The problem with Rob Skiba's approach is he is using the bottom half of the lense whereas the atmosphere acts like the top half of the lense (as was shown in the video he got his idea from). His experiment is bending light upwards instead of downwards which is what happens in reality when there is atmospheric lensing.It might be here Rob Skiba made a video that addressed that question. My computer is real slow so it takes to long to scroll down to his bottom (earlier videos) to look around and find video. But this may be it, look toward the end of the video.

I've already explained that if the horizon is in the centre of the field of view it will not be distorted by the lense. Either side of the centre will make it more concave or convex. I've seen plenty of clips where the curve is clearly visible in the centre of the field of view.-So then, obvious the camera is making the curve or causing the earth to appear curved.
The curvature is still visible in that video, despite the more distant pylons being obscured by haze.

I'm simply telling you how a camera lens works. You have a camera and you may even have a wide angle lens. All you need to do is take a photo of a series of straight lines and compare reality with your photo, see how much distortion there is the further from the centre of view and the fact that the lines will be straight in the middle. Then take a photo of a series of parallel slightly curved lines and compare the results again. Then you will be able to judge whether the horizon in high altitude images is straight or curved as you will know where in the field of view it is not being distorted.So it really does not matter that from one view, the camera presents a convex earth edge. Probably because most everyone doesn't believe that hundreds of people over decades have been going to great lengths to perpetuate a myth. Maybe someone should run a poll asking if anyone really cares if the earth is flat. Since apparently no one can really tell the difference in their day to day life, my guess is it wouldn't cause a panic.
