Because God is very efficient?

Or this goes against your fallen human sensibilities?
It goes against the truth, the Hebrew priest wrote and rewrote all the Old Testament books in Babylon. That's why there are so many errors and exaggeration.

They've convinced you that in a fallen state you are to stupid to think for yourself.

OK. Peter denied Jesus three times before the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowed the first time . . .

Matt 26:34 Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you that this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."

Matt 26:74 Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a rooster crowed.

Or was it the second time?

Mark 14:30 And Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, that this very night, before a rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times."

Mark 14:68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are talking about." And he went out onto the porch, and a rooster crowed.

Mark 14:71-72
But he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this man you are talking about!" Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he began to weep.
NASU
There are actually three eyewitness accounts provided. Mark, Matthew and Luke. In each Jesus tells Peter he will deny Him three times. In all three accounts it is recorded Peter denies Christ three times.

As you mention the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowing is the difficulty. Frankly it would be a difficulty if Mark actually recorded the first time the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crows. Since Mark mentions a second crowing, well there must have been a first. Notice the account in Matthew and Luke have "the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] will not crow today until you have denied three times."

That's an important point as neither Luke nor Matthew say "the first time." Mark has the more detailed account and we should thankful, that in the Gospels we have 4 accounts from eyewitnesses. Some see and hear more than others. Does Mark's account contradict in any way Luke and Matthew accounts? No, not at all, but the Mark account (which tradition has was Mark's pen but overseen by Peter) has more detail. Peter was actually there (he did the denying) and Mark (after grabbing another robe) might have been in the background as well.

Here's another example to supplement your inquiry: The inscriptions on Jesus' Cross.

Matthew 27:37 THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS
Mark 15:26 THE KING OF THE JEWS
Luke 23:38 THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS
John 19:19 JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS

Based on the above who is right and who is wrong. No one is wrong, they are all accurate. The inscriptions were in Hebrew, Greek and Latin.

Which Hebrew priest? What leads you to believe this priest mislead millions by adding his own exaggerations?

Or is it you discard the supernatural and that God can intervene in His own Creation?

That's why there are so many errors and exaggeration.

If you can share the eyewitness or even historical testimony of a priest in Babylon doctoring the TaNaKh, please share. Which errors are attributed to this Hebrew priest and what leads you to believe they were errors?

If you look at in detail the rendering is 'murder.'
I see, so is it murder when we kill in war, execute someone by lethal injection, etc....? Some would say yes, some would say no....depends on how one translates it doesn't it?

God allowed Satan to fool the whole world, and the church today is full of pedophiles and all manner of snake oil salesman. So the idea that the people who killed Jesus converted a relatively secular history into a miraculous fiction isn't out of the question at all. Analysis of the scripture shows multiple authors within the same page, duplicate stories with conflicting facts etc.

But let me clarify, I can appreciate your faith and trust in what we've been given by the holy men who came before us. For me the imperfection of the Bible is authenticating. All things considered, the Bible is as imperfect as we should expect t to be. I approach the Bible through God, not God through the Bible. I approach miracles through Jesus not Jesus through miracles.

Notice I am addressing your assertion this is a matter of translation. There are no issues with the translations of 'kill' and 'murder.' They are presented as different words in the Hebrew.

In Exodus 20:13 we have "Thou shalt not kill." The Hebrew word used is ratsach, which I showed means 'murder.'

Now where do we see kill which does not mean murder? Here in Leviticus chapter 16:

Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: (Leviticus 16:15)

The KJV translates Strong's H7819 in the following manner: kill (42x), slay (36x), offer (1x), shot out (1x), slaughter (1x).

to kill, slaughter, beat

  1. (Qal)
    1. to slaughter
      1. beast for food

      2. sacrifice

      3. person in human sacrifice

      4. beaten, hammered (of shekels)
(Niphal) to be slaughtered, be slain (of food or sacrifice)

שָׁחַט shâchaṭ, shaw-khat'; a primitive root; to slaughter (in sacrifice or massacre):—kill, offer, shoot out, slay, slaughter.

Genesis Chapter 1 (KJV)

There is nothing wrong with the translations of these words or passages. Perhaps you meant it depends on one's 'interpretation' of the texts. If this is the case then we should explore your contentions by applying Biblical exegesis.

Your propositions then would possibly be:

What about war?

What about capital punishment?

What about personal self-defense?

All of which have little or nothing to do with translations from the Hebrew and Greek, but do have to do with properly applying Biblical exegesis.

I guess we could start with your positions on the questions above and explore from there.

See, here's what happens when a contradiction is supplied. The inerrancy defender just says "no, not at all" and completely ignores the fact of the contradiction, and goes right on saying the Bible has no contradictions.

Its as if they have a blind spot in their brain. And they blame those who can see for saying they can see.

I will consider the above a non-answer as you did not address my post.

Let me elaborate.

My answer depended on what the Gospels stand on---Eyewitness testimonies. If every eyewitness testimony lined up 100%, I would be the skeptic here.

You are sitting on hill #743 and I am sitting on hill #565. A mountain divides our two hills but we can see portions of the same valley. You see 100 tanks coming down the central corridor and I see 50. I send in a location of grid coordinates CV 123 456, and you send in a location of grid coordinates CV 1234 4567.

How have you contradicted my report to higher headquarters? Or did I just send a false report? We are in the same unit on the same frequency. Should we argue who is right and who is wrong?

No to all of the above questions. I see 50 of the 100 tanks you properly identified. I gave the same grid locations but a 6 digit grid. You gave an 8 digit grid to the same target which is more accurate given you are closer and can see more of the target area.

Peter heard Christ say second time the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] would crow. The rest around the camp fire heard that a [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] would crow.

From the perspectives of the actual eyewitnesses they gave a faithful account. Just as in the example of the inscriptions on the cross of Christ. 4 Gospel accounts and not one matched. You would think men who broke bread together could get their stories straight, right? It did not work like that at all. The fact is we have integrity in the eyewitness accounts as the men led to write the Gospels gave truthful accounts. Not rationalized, synthesized or polished....honest eyewitness accounts.

Why do you believe in such an entity as 'Satan' but don't believe God could divide a sea long enough to deliver his chosen?

Please substantiate.

I approach the Bible through God, not God through the Bible. I approach miracles through Jesus not Jesus through miracles.

Why do you separate God and Jesus Christ from their own actions and revelation?

Content means nothing? The cartoon was used as a statement to make a point...

Point was lost given the subject was very subjective.

Let me explain. You were making a generalized straw man assertion when comments here had nothing to do with what you posted. It would be like me posting the below which has absolutely nothing to do with Biblical inerrancy. Or does it?

What are the original manuscripts that you trust, and why?

Sure, let us discuss the meaning of "inerrant". That is pretty important.

It covers the topic of God. The topic is without error.

To be clear, I'm one of those pesky evangelicals who question the Bible's inerrancy. (I've never heard of any evangelical claiming that the Bible is infallible, but that's cool too!)

If you look at the Torah in Hebrew some astounding discoveries have recently been made.....

This IMO forever settles wither the Torah (and by extension scripture itself) is inerrant.

Yes, the Bible is the inerrant and all sufficient word of God.

If a person denies the doctrine of inerrancy, they have nothing to base their faith in Christ on, so they are likely not a Christian.

That's backwards logic for a Lutheran. We start first with Christ as the Word made flesh, then we extrapolate to the Bible from there. Our belief in Christ as the God-Man does not rest on particular interpretations of inerrancy.

Is the Bible Without Error?

In my view, the Bible was written by fellow humans, not by the Lord. The writers of Biblical scripture tried their best to interpret His meanings but being human we fall a bit short of perfection. Having said that, there may very well be “errors” within
btw: what is "true" today may not necessarily be "true" tomorrow

* A fallen celestial is plausible, believable. The other exaggerations are not.

* Research the Documentary Hypothesis.

* Men wrote the Bible and made mistakes. Jesus didn't write anything lest it become a fetish.
