Only because teachers aren't using technology to make cheating harder. For instance I would systematically compare files to determine the level of similarity on a binary level apart from judging the basic appearance. I also think it's fair to generate unique tests and answer sheets systematically. In terms of essays, I suppose a phrase-checker might spot similarities. Usually those who cheat don't take the trouble to make many alterations to the original.

Cheating often only achieves shortterm results. I realize some folks can talk their way into high-profile jobs. But keeping that job is a separate issue. It depends on the type of job of course. Really it's fine if people want to cheat their way through school and eventually get fired and non-employable in the future. That's how natural selection works, and eventually it makes more jobs available to those who actually learn the material.
