Is SOLO Scriptura Scriptural?

Aside from not answering my question you go on to ask your own.

Knowing more on how the Bible was compiled would help. If you don't want to know, that is of course up to you.

Well that undermines your belief that forumlae are contained in the Bible. Mary can rightly because theotokos

I have no problem answering your questions.
Well the formula for Mary being thotokos I don't see in the scripture. You will have to point that one out to me. I don't need to know more how the bible was compiled. I need to know what is in the bible. For this is how I follow after the Apostles teaching and get to Know my Father.

I go by scripture(KJV) alone.

Colossians 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." KJV
Great verse!

Search for 'Genesis 1:1' in the version

Young) Colossians 2:8 See that no one shall be carrying you away as spoil through the philosophy and vain deceit, according to the deliverance of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ,
Rotherham) Colossians 2:8 Be taking heed, lest there shall be anyone leading, you, off as a spoil, through means of their philosophy, and an empty deceit,--according to the instruction of men, according to the first principles of the world,--and not according to Christ:

Why? Where does it say to only go by Scripture alone?

Then why ask about Mary? We can sure see the formula of the Trinity in the scripture. Father Word Spirit.. Father Son Spirit.. Three makes Trinity.. For we all know that the word became Flesh and dwelt among us.. The only begotton of the Father.

First, the word Theotokos means "mother of God".

With that said we know scripture says that Mary had the Holy Spirit shadow her and she conceived Jesus in her womb. We know Jesus was born from Mary. As Christians we know Jesus to be God and part of the Trinity (The Father, The Son (Jesus) and the Holy Ghost).

It seems clear that Mary is the mother of Jesus and since Jesus is God that she is the mother of God.

So why the contention???

The contention is that I stated doctrinal formula is not found in the Bible. Certainly proofs can be found.

Then the odd thing is MamaZ says that there aren't such formulae found, and that there are, in the one post.

I've tried to engage several people on this topic. Even the heretics used the bible as a basis for their doctrine. The underlying problem is that the Bible doesn't tell one how to interpret itself.

Added to that people here who read it, come to a particular interpretation and then don't even comprehend that that's an interpretation; rather they say that it just is what the bible says - based on circular logic, and random bible quotes with the odd word in bold and colour.

Is there a reason for not capitalizing "god" in "Jesus is god"? Sorta sounds like RC is JW.

Interesting point.
Would "God" be capitalized in the verse of John 10:33?

John 10:33 Answered Him, the Judeans saying, "About a good work not we are stoning Thee but about blasphemy, and that Thou, being a man, are making Thyself a god".
[Reve 16:11,21]

Reve 16:21 And great hail great as talent-weight is descending out of the Heaven upon the Men.
And the men blaspheme the God out of the blow of the Hail, that great is the blow of it/her, tremendous.

That sounds like a rough crowd. I think I would rather stay out of it a little to avoid any frustration. :)

I know from previous experience that some things are not likely to change. But your topic is a good one and I (for one) understand your logic and would be happy to persue it further.

If you don't read what I write

To further demonstrate that formulae aren't in the Bible

The formula for the Trinity is not either
Well with Mary, she is the mother of Jesus who is the Son. In scripture she is never deemed mother of God for there is the trinity that takes presedence. Therefore if she is the mother of God she would have to be the mother of the Father, Son, Spirit. She mothered neither the Father nor the Spirit. So that leaves us with that she is the mother of Jesus here on earth. Because she was not His mother before He became flesh. So therefore she has to be the earthly mother of Jesus.. Forumula and conclusion.

Your argument probably sounds alot like the one around the 5th century when Theotokos was stated as the teaching from the earliest times. Of course they had one authority that testified to this so that the whole church knew Theotokos is as it always was.

Of course Mary is only human and she is the mother of Jesus only as Jesus is fully human and in some mystical way it has no bearing on the The Father or Holy Ghost as to parentage.
