  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Going by this thread, its difficult to say whether or not any important dogmas are missing from Scripture since people here disagree on which dogmas are actually in Scripture to begin with. I mean, Scripture can't say both that a seventh day only day of rest is commanded and that the first day fulfills that command. Or both that Christ is really present in the Eucharist and that He's not. Or that apostolic succession is valid and that it's not. Or that grace is resistible and that it's not. That God loves all men passionately and Christ died for all and that He does not/did not. Or that Baptism is necessary for salvation and that it's not. That God predestines some to hell and that He does not.

Maybe if God would've just provided some source, someone with experience?-who should know with some level of definitiveness. Maybe we can look to the eastern churches, since we know they're quite old, at least, to see what their take has been on these matters down through time???

No i don't think that's the answer. That's actually the wrong way. The right way is to simplify things a bit. Get rid of unnecessary things that those Churches have been holding onto. That's the only thing that can bring more unity. The rest is in Gods hands. You cant do it on your own as they say. You cant teach a person something that only Christ can teach. There are certain things the apostles taught us and nothing more is needed. Thats the whole point. Eastern Churches have to many man made traditions and that are the problem, not the solution.
