Because Belafonte is a private citizen. Why do you think there needs to be some ringing support or admonishment from the black community when ever some black private citizen makes a comment????

And no there are today NO BLACK leaders what so ever. Why Jesse and Al do what they do is because they feel it's their calling, not because they have been given the helm or approved by the masses some kind of leadership role representing a segment of society. They do not speak for me. I speak for myself. My state representative speaks for me. My lawyer speaks for me. Jesse and Al do NOT speak for the black community. You are again over generalizing.

First of all, I'm sure Jesse and Al don't go around blaming Republicans, you're just pulling that out of thin air. Secondly, you put Jesse and Al on this pedestal, you prop them up more than the black community props them up. It's amazing, I must say.

I could go on and on about the generalizations and how you're wrong, but I think Doctrine1st has said more than enough. Blacks don't have a negative view of Republicans because anything Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton say. The negative attitude comes from scare tactics like Willie Horton, Jesse Helms' affirmative action ad, and the recent alarmist thread about black people getting reparations. Republicans do it to themselves, so they need to stop pointing the finger at Jesse and Al.

I think this above statement shows disconnect.

... Disconnect? Scare tactics? Have you ever even paid attention to liberals and what they say, or do you just vote "against" and never "for"? If you think that there is a disconnect between whites and the black community, you're aren't filling the hole with any real positives.

LOL, yeah, it was me that sends those two all the money they recieve, advertises their rallies, gets them on the TV, and echoes their words throughout black Ameria, too.

Hey, any of those folks concerned about an ex-Grand Wizard serving as the nation's top democrat?

Yep, keep talking, it only serves to drive blacks further away from the Republican party. Why do people even ask the question if they think they know better than black people in the first place?

Yes, we really felt the brunt of it the past two elections.

I don't quite understand. What is it you want and require them to do to gain your acceptance?
I completely accept who they are and what they have accomplished, but once again my disappointment can be summed up in one word.

I-N-T-E-G-R-I-T-Y!

As I mentioned before Powell in recent statements has seen the way of his errors in judgement.

Tokenism is not a solution to end racism by any means.

He is a racist because he does not promote an end to racism. He pretends it is a non-issue thus, at best, being complicit in its harms.

He doesn't beleive that it isn't an issue: he's taken a role in (ending) racist policies.

But I might also want to ask, what have you done? Are you a racist by your own standards?

They have at least as much integrity as any other people or politicians.

  1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.
  2. The state of being unimpaired; soundness.
  3. The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness.
So again I ask what is it you require of them in order to accept them?

Look, I already know the answer and have all along. You object to them having different politics. In order for you to accept them as fully black you need for them to toe the "oppressed" line of thinking. The fact is they're too busy being doers and movers to waste their time with that. They don't have time to feel sorry for themselves and don't need for whites or blacks to feel sorry for them. They are not beholden to anybody. They don't have the "pepetual victim mentality" that so many, both black and white, seem to have. They tend to pander to the better instincts of people rather than the baser instincts. Its probably the reason they're Republicans and not Democrats.
