Is Nudity Wrong?

Incidentally, a word study on the Hebrew words that translate into the English "naked" and it's derivations and synonyms is quite fascinating. There are between 8 and 10 Hebrew words that get translated in this way, depending on the actual English version. Of note is the fact that the word translated naked in Genesis 2 ("they were naked and not ashamed") is a significantly different Hebrew word from the one translated naked in Genesis 3 ("then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked").

I'm not opposed to nudity. For me, I am opposed to revealing myself in a way that would cause another person to lust after me. My body is for my husband only.

I really don't care what any one else does morally, although there are many that I would really be opposed to seeing naked (!!!).

To answer your question in general, I don't think that I should have to see someone's cleavage or butt crack, no matter how attractive or unattractive. I don't want to lust after anyone not my husband, and someone that isn't wearing enough clothes could be an enticement for me. It is a very hard thing to avoid, though. So I do pray that God helps me avoid temptation.

Will God condemn someone for being a nudist or wearing too little? I don't think so. I don't know how He will handle everything, but I seriously doubt He will say, "I know you believe in Me and you believe I love you enough to send My Son to die for you, but hey.. you showed your boobs one too many times so you're outta here." I often tell people that I know I'm going to heaven, I might be diggin ditches, but I know where I'm going!!

I've gone nude at a nude beach before. I would be willing to walk naked in public as long as nudity was culturally acceptable in that location.

But I forgot only certain things are "beautiful" or accepted as beauty in this messed up society. Like being skinny as a rail. Some people really need to get over it--there are other ways of being beautiful---not just like Kate Moss.

I've never seen a feature like that here--perhaps though I'm just not seeing it....

I think copy and pasting just part of it and then giving the link to where it is should be fine (since I think there is a rule about only posting 20% of an article)

Nudity is right or wrong depending on context. Nudity as a value is wrong; this leads to evaluating the worth of a person based on his/her physicality, and this can never be good.

For the record, i don't see anything wrong with nudity. People can and will be sexual with or without clothes. We'd probably associate sex with nudity less if nudity was more commonplace.

I agree. We are supposed to look at the inside of a person, not the outside, but state of dress is fairly irrelevant IMO. In other words, we violate this principle all the time with people fully clothed.

You should evaluate a person on the basis of his personality -- and in some instances (surely not most or all of them) extraneous aspects to personality can indicate personality, like bad clothes.

And we'd probably associate sex with nudity less, sure, but assuming that society doesn't eventually asign value to nudity as this relates to partiality. And I think that's just bound to happen.

Que? What I got from your initial reply was that it was no better to judge a person on the basis of nudity than on the basis of clothing. I'm saying that holding values that relate to anything not directly associated with personality is bad; and if people were more nude, they probably would place value on nudity more than clothes, thus negating the real importance of personality, potentially alienating the less, erm, physically attractive folks.
