The name of the church is: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". Sounds to me like they consider themselves Christian.

The statement posted by Hojo Hominygrits was an assertion that Mormons have never CONSIDERED themselves to be Christian. My comment refers to what Mormons consider themselves to be, not what my opinion of them is.

Regardless of whether Mormons are Christian or not, I would like to say that they are wonderful and precious people. Apart from their doctrines, I love the Mormon people very much, and I wish the Baptist Church would adopt some of the Mormon activities, like "Family Night". Also, Mormons "take care of their own", something no other Christian group can say.

Thats nice, but their doctrine is something that is in dark contrast to God. Coming from a Christian as well as conservative, I think their stress on family is great. But that has only started coming around since they have been trying to be seen as Christians. This comes from the book "One Nation Under Gods" so I cannot post the backings of this. They want to be seen as Christians. They deny being Mormons.

We don't deny being mormons. It makes me laugh sometimes, the comments that people make. Like they know exactly what mormons believe and who they are. Not everyone does this. Just the select few. I have to ask myself, why? Does it make you feel better? If it does then I feel sorry for you.

....and think of it Zyon...how could someone that's "terminally gorgeous"...settle for being wife number 8..or 9...???

When I'm around, I'm always no.1

So who are you gonna FAITH ....Joe or Jesus..??

Both.

I was brought up to believe what I do for the past 26 years. It would take something really BIG for me to change my mind. Like it would for a lot of ppl on this forum.

Well IF you are a mormon...you've been duped..! Don't feel bad your not the first..and you certainly won't be the last...!

I don't feel bad at all

Joe Smith is a stone cold liar....You just got sucked into his lies like many others did..!

I don't think he was and I didn't get sucked into anything

There's no shame in leaving that group once the LIGHT has been turned on..!

I almost did leave once. It probably would have been the biggest mistake of my life. It wasn't an easy decision.

A lot of people attack Joe Smith for contradicting God... but didn't Jesus himself come along and start changing things? One prime example is the debunking of the 'Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth' principle that had existed since the time of Moses and was God's word. God's changed the rules once before, why can't he change them again?

Time's change, and so do people. Any church that is so proud to claim it is perfect and correct unlike other churches is wrong. I'd say pretty much all churches these days seem comprimised of some truth and some wrong. I doubt one has got it all right.

I'm much more open minded on the situation. I think having been a Mormon has opened my eyes to some truths that other churches have not offered. But on the other hand, other chuches offer things that the Mormons don't, so on and so forth. Find your own truth and don't so abruptly deny others.
