Is Matzah the most boring substance known to man?

Make pizza with it, or cookies.... (add butter, honey and chocolate chips and place in the oven for a few minutes)...

You're lucky.. We tried pizza last night with the matzah I made (so I can have some) and it didn't do so hot in the pizza stage, but I know 100% that wheat and oat based matza does very well with that. :)

Sandwiches are something I really miss. Peanutbutter and Jelly or Delimeat with mayo...

I had loads of fun with regular matzah before I knew i wasn't supposed to be eating it. :(

My husband and I were just talking about this. We actually like matzah and were wondering if it was taboo to eat it throughout the year. My husband likes it just spread with butter. I wouldn't go quite that far, not the store bought variety anyway. I like my homemade variety plain though. Homemade makes a great pizza! My children beg for more.

I just had store-bought matzah with a little mayo and deli meat for breakfast. (Strange, I know. I'm not a big breakfast fan.) My husband had his matzah with scambled eggs piled on top.

I like it spread with jelly.

Basically, whatever can be done with bread can be done with matzah.

Kris, when I "could" (as in wasn't having severe reactions from it, just minor ones I chose to ignore) have it.. I ate it year round. I just got the KLP stuff a month ahead for passover.
Thank you! I was thinking of starting a new thread with this question because I've asked it in passing a few times and haven't had a response. Sometimes those "in passing" questions don't quite get answered, understandably.

I don't know about others but, this one is great! As the tag line is, I could get hooked and fat on this stuff.

Matzah
5 C. flour
1 2/3 sticks butter
1 pint whipping cream

Mix, knead, press onto cookie sheet. Bake 450 for 15 minutes.
Easy. Very rich. Thank goodness we only eat it for a week

Ok, you forced me to do it, and not even in one of my own many matzah threads. Here is the perfect solution to making something with matzah that you will love!

I even gotta drag out my Passover cookbook for this

Chocolate Toffe matzah Treat!

If you like SKOR bars and or Chocolate covered Pretzels you'll love this

4-6 unsalted boards of matzah
1 cup butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
3/4 cups chocolate chips or peanut butter chips

Preheat oven to 375
Line a cookie sheet completely with foil, this is important!
Cover bottom of pan now with parchment paper, this is on top of the foil. Line bottom of pan with boards of matzah, breaking to fit.
Fill all spaces on pan.

Now combine sugar and butter in saucepan ( heavy duty kind) and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil, this may take up to 3-4 minutes, stay with it, constantly stirring.

Be careful as you are making candy and this mixture is very hot so have little ones down for a nap or safely out of the kitchen!

Remove form heat and pour carefully over the matzah, making sure to cover as much as possible.

Place pan in oven and immediately reduce heat to 325-350; Bake for 10-15 minutes, checking on it every couple minutes to make sure it isn't burning. ( if it seems to be browning too quickly , then remove from over, lower temp and replace back in over).

At this stage it will be bubbling and will bubble up to cover over all the boards

When done, remove from oven and immediately sprinkle all over the top with the chocolate chips. Let this alone for about 5 minutes then taking a spatula or cake icing knife, spread melted chocolate over all boards till covered. Let set up a bit and cool down to only warm. Now using a metal spatula break up into squares and bite sized pieces. Finnish cooling in refridgerator.

Try not to eat it all in one day!

This same recipe can be doubled on the matzah but using the same amount of candy mixture, just set up two trays for yourself of the matzah and split the candy mixture between them, there is still plenty on there and half the calories. When doing this on one of the sheets I add some chopped nuts after I've spread the chocolate out while it's still warm.

CAUTION: this is quick to make and delicious and you will get plenty of practice because everyone you share it with will want more, even if on a diet!

Maybe I just dont know what to do with it?:|

I'm really struggling to find things to eat with it, and its as dry as dust.

Ok I'll stop complaining now
Well, according to Torah, manna was, imagine only having that to eat for forty years and you'll be soon kissing your matzah good morning! :D and Blessing HaShem it's only ONE WEEK!

YOu can eat matzah throughout the year, however there is one portion of the year immediately leading up to Pesach in which you cannot have it. Thus increasing your hunger for Matzah. Personally, I roll out Matzah for 8 days a year.

I'm sure that it must have tasted better to them - HaShem would have put in all the vitamins and nutrients they needed to help maintain healthy bodies.

I have bough a couple of Jewish cookbooks to be ready for next year!!!

I have to say that I have found eating Matzah a challenging experience, and to be honest am glad its over for now!

I treat Matzo like most folks treat a cracker. Break it up into 1 inch squares put some cream cheese a little lox. Chopped liver. Eggs and Onions. A little piece of roast lamb, some gravy. Great with butter and a ball of gefilte fish.

And of course...

Matzo Balls :D
