I didn't see anything here that says "Believers only."
True. But what kind of useful input can someone have in what is or isn't sinful [an affront to God] if they do not believe God exists?

Then we can draw a parallel to Mt.5:28. It is wrong to look and think about committing adultery as Jesus said. So it would be wrong to use our imagination
to think about anything that would hurt another whether sex is involved or not.

Once again, Jesus was much less about making us police our thought life than He was making us realize how futile it was to attain holiness by way of the Law.

While I get the point you are trying to make, its not really accurate.

First adultery occurs between married people or a single person and a married person. Second once a girl hit puberty, she was either betrothed or married.

Perfection in the flesh is impossible for man. That however does not mean that we are to ignore the Torah.

In that my position isn't coloured by a religious position I was raised in.

Since you are a Christian, do you mind sharing what the Lord has told you?

No, that's not the way this works. I asked the question of the OP. He is the one going to man and asking and I want to know what the Lord told him. I do believe he lists himself as a Christian.

I don't expect the OPer will reply, he posted one post back in May and last visited on Jun14.
It happens often that a person registers and asks a controversial question and never shows up again.

Masturbation is a sin plain and simple. A lot of Christians try to justify it because the bible doesn't specifically say anything about it. But if your a Christian, ask yourself this question. If Jesus came back and caught you masturbating would you be proud or ashamed?

People that say they touch to nothing are lying to. You have to be sexually aroused by something in order to touch. You are thinking about someone in a sexual way= lust=sin. Simple as that.

I am a 27 year old male that's still a virgin. I understand it's tough and you have sexual thoughts about the opposite sex. But whenever I get sexually aroused by a girl ( sexual thoughts etc) I do something to take me mind off it. Take a walk, watch a tv show or movie that's not overly sexual, read the bible, play video games, pray etc until the thoughts go away or I am no longer sexually aroused. It's NOT easy, but I want to honor God so I do my best to stay pure until he sends the woman I am suppose to be with my way.

One can get sexually aroused by hormones only and not realize that it has anything to do with sex. Simple as that.

First, I'd not be ashamed if Jesus caught me masturbating ... Jesus has been with me every time I touch, I was saved before I started masturbating.
So if Jesus showed up I'd do the same thing I do now, I'd thank Him for creating me in such a way that I can enjoy this much pleasure.

Second, not only does the Bible not say its a sin to touch, the Bible doesn't say its a sin to have a sexual thought. After all God thought a lot about sex to create hundreds of species of plants and animals with all their sexual organs and how they are going to use them to reproduce. If it was a sin to think about sex then God would have sinned to create this world!

Third, what is Jesus saying in mt.5:28. Remember the context is Jesus talking about the 10 commandments. The immediate context is adultery. Jesus is talking about how to not break the commandment by committing adultery. So Jesus says not to look at another man's wife and lust after her for that will lead to you committing adultery. That I find easy to obey when I touch.

Jesus said we should flee from sexual immorality and that means masturbation. Masturbation teaches self gratification. Yes, he created us to have sexual desires, but sex is some he designed in the context of marriage between a man and woman.

There are plenty of theologians and other scholars who study religions other than their own. All of us here have access to the same documents and dogma and possess the ability to study and analyze them.

So maybe you can help me with something, Gaurdian, that I've been looking for ... I have wanted to see where this Greek word is used to speak of masturbation. I've not been able to find it. The reason I want to know this, is because the Bible says we aren't to add to the Bible and to me if I add meaning to this word that God spoke thru Paul that wasn't there when Paul write it would I'd be adding to God's word and I'd be sinning. Plus there is a very big judgement on adding to God's word.
