  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WA......YOu honestly haven't read ANY of my posts have you? I respect Mary. I do not agree with the rest of what you said about Mary...but I will agree to disagree with you. Others may of bashed her, but I haven't.

you misunderstood what I said about seeking the catholic denomination. I won't. Trust me, the Spirit is NOT compelling me to do so, I said IF I was,...and I read in OBOB, I certainly would be turned off even more.

I do not think it is silly to ask what is minor. What is minor to you can very important to me.

Is predestination vs free will minor? George Whitfield taught that God chose some to turn to Christ and be saved, while God chose others to reject Christ and go to hell. John Wesley taught that God desires all men to come to Christ, and that we each have a free will to accept or reject Christ. John Wesley said to Whitfield "Your God is my Devil". It does not sound that this was a minor thing. And yet today we have some denominations who teach that God predestine some to Hell and other denominations that man has a free will to turn to Christ.

I myself do not think this is a minor thing.

May be true. The stuff you stated, predestination and all, that has nothing to do with salvation and such. God is, I'm not, that settles it. I don't know how God chooses who is saved. Being omniscient, He knows all, He knows who will and who won't come to salvation. I do believe that He did choose some for hell, well, not choose as in...ok..Joe you are going to hell period...but He knows if Joe is going to accept Him, and if Joe doesn't...then...well..what else can God do?

Why are there so many controversial threads about the Holy Mother? Why cant we Christians and Catholics simply agree that She was and is a special part of Jesus Life. Why cant we just admire Her for what She did. She gave birth to Jesus. This is the Greatest of events. I just do not understand the controversy.

Be Well and God Bless...

because of some of the claims made about her. I agree with you about her. she is blessed for what she did. BUT some elevate her to where she isn't supposed to be.

I think the controversy stems from not the difference in theological aspects, but that one or the other of the sides claims, at one point or another, the "opposition" to be false, sinful, mislead, incomplete in Christ, Idolaters, etc...

I didn't see this till I went back to that thread...

Everything I said was purely from scriptures.
Do you disagree?

And let me further show you.

The humble will be exalted.
When God says 'will be exalted' He refers to our Life in His kingdom. For we know the humble do not live exalted lives, or they would not be humble.

Furthermore, scriptures tell us she will read hearts.

Do you have a seperate understanding than the ancient Church on this?

Um, NO Mary does not and CAN not 'read' hearts. She is not God. I understand the Word of God, not catholic denomination teaching on this.

SO, as to the baptism...if a person isn't water baptized, they go to hell, doesn't matter if they know Jesus or not..is that what you are saying to me?? What an unmerciful God that would be then.

I agree with this but I think it's also that some people like to fight and be right. And some like to fight to be right. So, take your pick really.
