no not a sin. that is bs. to really be a sin, it must be an act or thought that goes against the greatest commandment, that of love. who are you harming? granted many lyrics focus on killing or robbing banks, but its music. i use music as a release from anger, and this music is fine.
Is it love for God to choose to listen to music that glorifies sin -- which God hates?
Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
i think this so-called "christian music" is the most harmful if any music is sinful. it keeps those who listen to it away from gods real message and plan. when i say christian music, i dont mean hymns or chants, or prayers. i mean the **** that involves the electric guitars and stuff. it gives a seriously impared vision of what Jesus' life was worth. most songs are like "oh jesus i love you, blah blah blah we hold your cross." i doubt anyone listened to this stuff centurys ago and if the apostles were living they would condemn it.
When you see what the apostles preached, it was the CROSS and the ressurection. Both are necessary parts of the message.
1 Corinthians 2:2
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
I think the apostles may condemn some of the shallow Christian music, but do you think they would applaud listening to "gangsta' rap"?
jesus died so we could live life, and these songs focus on the sacrifice, not the miracle.
Jesus died so we could live IN ETERNITY. Foe now Jesus said:
Matthew 10:39
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Mark 8:35-36
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Luke 9:24-25
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
John 12:25
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
When something Jesus said is repeated in all four Gospels, it is probably worth paying attention.
i doubt jesus wants us to concentrate on the nails going through his hands, but to focus on the ressurection if anything. he died to give life, and that life is not just after death but now.
live it
Is that why He showed them the nail holes in his hands and the spear hole in His side? Is that why Paul says he is determined to know nothing among the people he preaches to except Jesus Christ and Him crucified?
