Is joking around a sin?

Well first we know that we're made in God's image which mean's we're similar to Him.Second,we know that God created our minds to enjoy humor.Third we know that Jesus spent alot of free time with his disciples,they drank large quantities of wine,the disciples didn't really like to discuss religion,and Jesus didn't talk about politics or sex,so there must have been alot of humor exchanged.Fourth, we know that laughter is extremely beneficial for our health - specifically it increases the power of our immune system which helps to ward off disease.And fifth we know that joking around is a great stress reducer and therefore is beneficial for our mental health.

If the joke was meant to hurt somebody in some way, I don't think God would take that too well. But if it's not terribly horrible and is able to bring a smile to a person's face, I don't see that as a sin. Laughter is defintely a gift God gave us...I mean it makes us healthier so why wouldn't God want us to laugh and have fun? Plus, I've seen good Christian sites that have daily Church jokes and Church comics...I'm sure God has a sense of humor too. You just have to make sure of what topic it is and think if it may be harmful to someone else. Love, Tanya

depends on how the joking is done. If it's for hurting someone or putting someone else down so you can feel better then it's wrong. There's appropriate joking too.

I guess it all depends on if it hurts somone else. If you said it to one person as a joke I think it would be okay. One time my friend was really upset because this girl took her boyfriend and so they made fun of the other girl and this was 'funny joking' to them, and it made them feel better. In that case I think its wrong. but if u are really JUST joking then its ok. like everyone said, laughter is good for the body and mind, and God wants us to be healthy so i think he approves of joking in most situations. when u are about to say something to someone as a joke ask yourself, " if jesus was sitting here would I say this" hope this helps

You need to draw the line. No i don't think joking around is a sin.

There have been times when my jokes when overboard and people were extremely offended. In turn i had to humble myself and say sorry .

But no joking isn't a sin i dont' believe. However it can be childish which isn't very attractive if you're an adult.

I joke around a lot with my friends....nothing SERIOUS or BAD...like normal joking around and I thought that might have been bad. And when I talk to people @ church, it doesnt seem like the joking friendly type ppl
