CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Progressivism is not the problem tbh. the problem is that our last 2 administrations have been incompetent.
but it isn't the end of the United States or the world. We'll probably be perfectly fine in about 10-20 years. It's pretty much just a cycle.

We have more than just two incompetent Presidents. In the last century,Many Presidents contributed to the problems we are facing today. Such as getting off the gold standard, and printing worthless paper money, In addition to big government programs, and taking our country back into a World System which our Founding Fathers freed us from.
These problems began long before Bush or Obama were even born. They have been growing and now it is collapsing.

I know for me I will never vote for a Democrat ever again. Not saying I will always vote Republican, but will consider voting Independent or Third Party.

I won't say I'll never vote for a Democrat, but I don't know one I would vote for now. When the Democrats controlled both houses of congress and the presidency, they were still unable to pass a budget. Now they want to blame the Republicans for a shutdown. The politics never stop. The Democrats do not know how to govern. Sadly, I'm not sure the Republicans do either although there is some signs of life.

If the people electe a POTUS and more conservative Senators in 2012…those not afraid to make the hard choices to bring the country back from the brink of economic destruction…
…do you think the people will go for the cutbacks needed?
And how do you consider the mainstream media will address these issues to the public if GOP leadership were to bite the bullet and cut back severely on entitlement programs?

I think we will see a bunch of children crying, much like those did in Greece when the end of the gravy train was seen coming. However crying or not be it voluntary or forceful we will cut back or go broke. If we go broke then we will still cut back because there won't be anything left. Once choice lets people keep something and the other choice lets people keep nothing. So if people are reasonable they will accept the hard choice, yet the past tells us that many people are in denial and will procrastinate to the bitter end.

What this nation needs more than a change in leadership......is a change in the hearts and minds of the people. You know that whole "Ask not what your country can do for you..." thingy
That...and some reality fact checking in the mainstream media. Sadly the days of simply reporting the news are long gone...what we have now are bias OP/EDs liberally peppered with outright lies and given to censorship.
I used to follow the AP closely...until I realized they were editing and deleting information repeatedly hour by hour...and even going as far as highjacking links to damaging reports that did shine a bad light...IOW...reports that actually informed the people.
The AP edited/censored reports so quickly during Kagan Confirmation Hearings...I had to copy and paste anything I wanted to make note of and research because the conflicting information from various news sources was outstanding...and the AP was working overtime to get everyone on the same Kagan didn't say what she actually said page.
I do have to give credit where credit is due...much to my amazement...Diane Sawyer did point out the government hinderence to the Gulf Oil Spill clean-up...it was hardly a blip on the radar though and very short lived expose'...but at least she did question the debacle the FED made of the clean-up efforts.
Now if GOP leadership had delayed help from foreign countries...or ordered the skimmers to cease and desist...or stopped a DEM Gov from taking the necessary steps to protect the shore line...
...it would have been a mainstream media frenzy for days on end.
...but I digress
The Dems and the mainstream media will never shine a good light on the hard choices and sacrifices that must be made to bring this country back to economic solvency.
The entire DEM platform is supported by how much the FED will give you for free...and how much they will take from others to give to you.

You are quite correct .there is and will be more public outrage from the entitlement crowd.
Civil unrest is happening all over Europe as the European Leaders make the hard cutbacks and are running fast and far from Socialized Health Care.
The G8 Summit was interesting as Obama tried to convince Europes leaders more stimulus was necessary for global economic recovery and ALL of them said
Thanks for the advice but no thanks and good luck with that more stimulus thingy .been there done that and got the Our Country is Bankrupt T-Shirt. Were gonna go with less spending. The only issue all of them agreed on was raising taxes.
The UK is going nutz over the increases in cost of education and the efforts to dissolve Socialized Health Care and to return Health Care back to the Private Sector.
And sadly, reason has very little to do with anything. The people are convinced by the DEMs and the media that the FED has an endless supply of funds from the rich that they can tap into.
Theyve bought into Robin Hood and Keynesian Economics hook, line and sinker. They dont want to hear about cutbacks they want their payout.

That's it for sure. But when the cookie jar is empty reality will set in and everyone will be forced to conform to reality instead of live in a fantasy. Too bad that the many lessons learned that founded this country and those learned about survival after that time have largely been forgotten due to the prosperity and movement of people from farms to cities in the past 50 years or so. Be it now or later the lessons learned from the past will revisit themselves upon those who are still alive when the disaster strikes. Some will survive but many will not and that has always been the reality of life in this world.

IMHO, and it’s just my opinion…the cookie jar is not only already empty but the jar shattered as well…
…just no one wants to admit or take responsibility for the mess on the floor…and many keep thinking (and hoping) someone can glue it all back together and it will be as good as new…so now we’re scrambling to see who has the biggest and best tube of super glue in 2012.
15 Trillion dollars in debt.
5 million houses foreclosed on. Two of which are my neighbors just across the street with at least a dozen more up for sale in my neighborhood. I can only imagine these homes are foreclosures as well because the housing market is in the toilet right now…property values have dropped like a rock. No one would sell their home voluntarily at such a loss right now.
Obama keeps printing money like that will help.

Pending Government shut down for several months. People cried in their coffee when the FED had to shut down for 5 days back in ’95 during the Clinton Admin.
The evidence in current events is quite clear…well to me anyway...not to mention the impending devastations to economic well-being and individual livelihood such as the VAT and Cap and Trade…

….but hubby and I are considering taking steps to be less and less dependent on the FED and consumer goods.
Praise the Lord…as Believers…we rely on and trust God’s providence but that doesn’t mean that we don’t exercise wisdom and discernment and consider ways to be better stewards of what God has blessed us with now…in preparation for the hardships to come….just like Joseph prepared for the famine in Egypt…with common sense and diligence.
And just like we’re planning…I think we will see an exodus from the cities to the country. Where people have more opportunity to be self-sufficient again. Gardens, water wells, hunting/fishing and cooperation neighbor to neighbor for mutual benefit.
