I know what you wrote about, but the subject coverd in the link is more than about salvation.

But I really don't see any reason to argue about versions....If you dont like the KJV, don't use it....however don't criticize those who wish to use it. The Version really shouldn't matter, just that we have the word in our hearts. Consider that the KJV allowed for billions to be saved- the reason it was translated was fulfilled. People understood and people were saved.

~God Bless~

I never said anything against the KJV. I have no problems with people who understand it and want to read it. I have only been addressing things you brought up on your post. I do have issues with people who don't understand the language of the KJV and think they can read it and use modern day meanings of words and get the author's intended meaning. The KJV was a great bible and still is for those today which can grasp the meaning of the text.

Blessings,
Chris

Jerrell, I used to be in that boat for a good long while. Matter in fact, I still prefer the KJV as my bible of choice to study from, mainly because modern English doesn't have a distinction between you plural/singular and we don't have a verb tense like est/eth. I've delved into the history, and at first I was on the KJV only side of things, but as I researched, I learned more and more holes with that approach. For one, you claim the dead sea scrolls are more like the KJV as opposed to the "modern" translations. This is true, but the dead sea scrolls even more accurately line up with the Septuagint.

The Truth I've found through a few years of research led me straight to the Orthodox Church. Why, you ask? Because whenever I interpret scripture, how do I know it isn't my proud self making the interpretation? With Orthodoxy, we have the Traditions (with a capital T) of the church from the age of persecution, onto combating the heresies during the Ecumenical Councils all the way up to today. We have the writings of the Desert Fathers, the multiple volumes of the Early Church Fathers, and most importantly, we have a Father at our parish we can ask directly that can answer our questions.

The scriptures can only be understood through the light of the Tradition. We don't find splits in Protestant churches because a church doesn't agree with the bible, but because two or more interpretations come from the same scripture. The only we can know what interpretation is correct is through the Traditions of the Church.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
