This question has been bothering me for quiet sometime and I am a bit embarrassed to discuss this, but I don't know who to talk to about this issue. I will be 18 soon, and I know starting at that age, it's legal to buy intimate toys. My teen years have been rough abstaining from sexual activity. I want to save myself for my husband. However, my libido is still quiet high after all these years (even while pleasing myself) and the only solution I can think of to help my urges would to be buying a vibrator.
I've been praying about this for a long time, and that's the only thing that keeps coming back to me. I do not want to give in to inappropriate contentography (we obviously know that inappropriate content is a sin) but I cannot find anything about masturbation and use of sex toys in the Bible.
If I use a vibrator, I will stop using it once I am married. Sex is completely fulfilling so I hear, especially when it is between a husband and wife. I know using a toy/inappropriate content/etc instead of making love your spouse is a sin in God's eyes. But what about single people who are using it as a way to keep themselves pure? Would love some advice. :o
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God."
I think that passage pretty well sums it up for you right there. However, I personally think that as a young impressionable Christian, it would have been better for you to have asked your question in the
Ask A Chaplain forum or in the
Christian Advice forum. Your question would have then been answered from a Godly, biblical perspective if you asked in one or both of those forums. I fear the answers you have received here thus far are not appropriate for your spiritual benefit and well being. Sex was created by God to be within the confines of marriage, between one man and one woman. That is what He ordained from the beginning. Speaking from personal experience, I was not a Christian when I married and I now wish I had abstained until I had married my husband. And now as a Christian mother of eight children (ages 20 to 6 years old), I strongly advise you to abstain from any form of sexual immorality. Sweetheart, Scripture is very clear on that, as I have demonstrated below. I have five daughters myself (ages 18, 16, 11, 8 and 6), so if you would like to talk to me, in private, please don't hesitate to send me a private message. I will be here to listen to you, if you ever need an older Christian woman to talk to. Please read the passages I have posted for you and then take your concerns before the Lord and let Him speak to your heart. I want you to know that I'm praying for you. Remain pure in the Lord, sweetheart.
2 Timothy 2:19 (
underlined for emphasis)
"Let everyone who names the name of Christ
depart from iniquity.”
Hebrews 13:4
"Marriage
is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
2 Timothy 2:22
"Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
1 Corinthians 6:13b
"...Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body."
2 Corinthians 7:1
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
1 Corinthian 6:9-10 (
underlined for emphasis)
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:3-7 (
underlined for emphasis)
"3
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5
For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7
Therefore do not be partakers with them."
1 Corinthians 6:15-20 (
underlined for emphasis)
"15
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
Galatians 5:16-24 (
underlined for emphasis)
"16
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication,
uncleanness,
lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that
those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And
those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
