John 13: 34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

The above cannot be true.. as to the fanciful theology, I mean.If the ten commandments are read at face value and nothing added to them by fanciful theology then keeping them may be possible or at least may have been possible in the times that immediately followed their first proclamation.
You're right. Bad wording.Sorry, maybe just semantics, but God does not "try" anything. "Try" implies a potential for failure. What God says, He does. God is successful in everything single thing He decrees.
The reason man does not listen is because he (man) is not the elect of God. God's calling on the elect is effectual. Man does not have any power to overrule God.
So you are saying the 10 are no longer binding? Was it the violation of these principles that caused the death of Yeshua? Could they have been set aside or changed to accommodate the carnal mind, He need not have died?

And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” Paul mentions that these laws were “against us” and “contrary” to us. Would it be contrary to Christians to refrain from idolatry, using God’s name in vain, dishonoring parents, murder, etc, the sins rebuked by the Ten Commandments? Both Jewish and gentile Christians would be keeping these.
