  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is it Pirated Software?

I've gotten Spam that advertises programs like Photoshop for a fraction of the normal market price. Could this be legitimate or would I be purchasing Pirated Software? Now, I believe the advertisements I've gotten have offered the CD for sale not a download. Still, maybe I send them a check and they send me nothing. How can I tell if it's legitimate?

Read the fine print first.

A lot of times when you look deeper in to the site you see that they are selling "Backup" version I.E. You already have a Legal version, and there just supplying you with a "backup" version.

Other times they are selling O.E.M. Versions that may be legit.

If there selling the boxed version with original CDs, manual , serial, it could also e that they are a version or two behind the current version.

Finally, someone sane, thank you strasburg_valley. For gosh sakes, spam is spam, delete the suckers and stop reading the junk! Every time you open a spam message you just open the doors for more messages to be sent. And more importantly, everytime you fall for their tricks, WE get more spam. Stop openning the messages! YARGH!

HEY, it's not like I make a habit of reading spam. I have most of it filtered out.
Simply asking if any of the stuff advertising could be legitimate. I had gotten E-mail from Photoshop advertising clearance sells on the software. So I try to set my filter to allow advertisements on Photoshop software.
Beside, I don't open the Spam I do get, I have a preveiw window, ya know.:p

The so called "cheap software" companies that float through SPAM mail are usually just fronts or big time scams. Unless a site is verified through things like Verisite or something like that, I would never buy anything through them. I have bought software on Ebay, but only if the sellers have very high ratings, and they are PayPal certified.

Gimp is a decent editor. It's listed under the GPL. Unfortunately, you have to get the source code along with the program. Or- it may be fortunate if you are into that sort of thing. Gimp happens to be the closest to photoshop as it can get without violating any copyright laws.
