Is it okay to have fun?

I have recently been having some thoughts that are really worrying me. I am worried that I and everyone are doing everything all wrong.

The Bible says that we should glorify God in all that we do, right? So how does watching a movie, or playing the piano, or playing a video game glorify God at all? Should we be able to do ANYTHING for fun if it has nothing to do with God? Or should we do nothing but read the bible and teach other people about Jesus? Isn't that what Jesus himself did? And isn't our goal to be just like Jesus?

I really need some input on this, because if I'm right, it would mean I would need to radically change my life, and so would almost every other person in the world. And it would also mean that my girlfriend would probably leave me, and I am wondering if we should even be going out if she doesn't have the same beliefs as me.

It sounds like my idea may be taking it too far, but we're not just supposed to go half way for God. AAAAAH please just tell me if I am crazy or not!

I think you're being paranoid.. :p

So watching a movie, playing a game, playing the piano, etc. cannot be done without glorifying the Creator?

IMHO, you're worrying too much about the "what if's." Why not live your life to it's fullest and enjoy each day as if it was your last. I am not saying you need to go out and indulge in "sinful" activities. However, you can still lead a Christian life doing the fun things while still glorifying the Creator.

First of all, you are being paranoid. Second of all, you are being legalistic. Lay back, relax, and live life! Worrying about petty things like that will do you nothing but wear you out and is not good on your mental health.

God is glorified when we find joy in the world. Scared people huddling in a church are great and all, but I think the Lord would be just as happy, if not greatly more, to see us actually out and enjoying His Creation.

Maybe Im just being picky, but isnt this a THEology question?

I think so. I do have an opinion on this though. What would be the purpose of God creating something just for it to spend all day worrying about if it pleased him. I may not believe in the bible, but I have read it. I don't see any reason to think that it asks for people to constantly worship. There are many places where it encourages people to enjoy themselves and in doing so God is pleased.

(I can't divide these into paragraphs, so forgive me (computer is driving me insane)). Is it okay to have fun? Depends what you consider fun. Is it fun to sin? Typically, for the unconverted heart (and some converted) yes. However, what is fun for one may not be fun for another. NOW, your question: is it okay to take pleasure in things unrelated to God? ... I am not that strong in the knowledge of the faith, but I'm thinking that that is alright, so long as it does not become a sort of idolizing (something taking the place of God). IE if you have an obsession, odds are it is not spiritually healthy (unless a heavy dose of God's glory is included). Obsessed with the stars? Cool. Does it make you forget about God? ... Be careful. Live for God's glory and you won't go wrong. This is a gray area for me, but, like I said, just keep your eyes on Jesus and you won't sink.
