Is it 'morally' wrong to overdiscuss homosexuality?

sorry just making a point!

has anyone counted the number of homosexuality type threads on here recently?

has anyone noticed that i could count the number of verses in the bible talking about homosexuality on my fingers?

has anyone considered the numbers of verses on other topics such as justice and love? I know these intertwine with all debates but guys lets use our imaginations!

anyone else bored of talking about homosexuality? I don't even think God's as bothered about it as we think (even if you're going to state its a sin)!!

sorry i didn't want to create another thread about homosexuality really... maybe I misworded it.

i was wanting people to talk about how we can break out of these habits of discussing the same tiny things over and over when there are more important things to deal with. Why are Christians so stuck in ruts of obsession with facts and details? Is it an attempt to ignore the more difficult parts of life and the world by looking like we're doing something?

what should we be doing instead of discussing homosexuality etc etc?

Maybe we could...I don't know...make topics about other subjects? *wink*

I think its so common because its the one sin that people are trying to justify .. If people would stop trying to justify homosexuality as being not a sin, the threads would stop...Sin is Sin, and ALL of it must be rejected because it all seperates us from God and endangers us to the Fires of Hell...
If you believe in that mumbo jumbo that is.
I don't and until ample evidence to it's truthfulness can be provided it doesn't apply to me! :)

In every thread on the subject "anti-gay" folk tend to show their position up as being devoid of any rational basis.

They become a yardstick to measure one's own prejudice against.

I think these threads are useful to illustrate the immorality of pointless bigotry.

Perhaps it's our moral duty to have more such threads?

What about abortion, cloning, divorce, sex before marriage..? (I don't think any of these things are wrong, by the way, but I take it you do.)

People attempt to justify lots of 'sins'. It's just that this one makes certain conservative Christians feel a little funny inside.

Why aren't there threads trying to justify shaving, wearing clothing of more than one fabric, or eating shrimp? They're all sins and separate us from God. Or is it that no one cares about those because they're all too obsessed with homosexuality?

no i really think its about the twisted way some christians think, they cherry pick verses out of a translation that they can't support and claim they are right.
then someone points out their inconsistency, like that everything listed they don't follow either so why should the verses about "homosexuality" be followed and why doesn't the christian follow all the rules if the "homosexuality" one is valid
then the christian pulls a bait and switch by saying the old laws are overwrote in the NT
then brings up romans 1, but ignores the bloody part where paul talks about why the people were punished, namely worshiping false gods when they knew god already

oh but homosexuality a sin somehow, even though it has to be twisted to be counted as a sin, sometimes its the act of having sex, sometimes its just being gay in the first place.
even though every verse the christian posts is not about homosexuality but pedastry or prostitution, and female at that!
or its about ritual sex.
but no, we can't be honest about what the text says if it doesn't agree with us!

Morally wrong? No, it just gets old. And serves as an interesting reminder that a lot of Christians have a curiously obsessive interest in the topic...

That's not true Renton. People try to justify greed, envy, pride, gluttony, hypocricy, and several far more CONSISTENT sins all the time! You just don't care about those! (Maybe it's because they hit too close to home?) And they win! Greed is a social standing in most churches! So is gossip! And divorce is WAAAAY too common in churches!

I think its morally wrong to over discuss anything...but that is just my opinion...nothing wrong with homosexuality though itself :sorry:

People often argue that worshipping other gods is not a sin (worshipping Allah/Mohammud, or Shiva, or denying Christ as a Jew.) Yet, no topics. A Jew will argue that they are not sinning, the Christian will argue that they are.

It's a violation of the 1st Commandment, and yet, not a peep. No politcal football to punt. People are allowed to worship as they choose, despite it clearly being against the Bible.

Why aren't there countless threads about that? About people using God's name in vain, or saying oh ma ga? Why not countless threads about premarital heterosexual sex? Why not threads about Christian groups that have been exposed for telling, at best, half truths, and at worse, bold face lies?

The 10 Commandments no longer count?

I've stopped trying to understand it.

Its nice to be able to villify a group that you can clearly distance yourself from. Although I suspect that in many cases the vitriol poured on homosexuals is for the benefit of the pourer, to re-inforce their own shaky confidence in their own sexuality.
