We know the Mosaic Law was given to show God's Perfect Moral Will for people. Jesus Himself, is said to have kept every jot and tittle of the law, and if He broke even a fraction of it, such as eating a piece of bacon, He would have sinned against God and would no longer be able to be the perfect sacrifice to placate the anger of God towards us. Now, my concern is that eating bacon is sinful and wrong. Yet many Christians disobey the laws of God. Why?

The Law of God does not change. If eating a lobster or a bacon cheeseburger was wrong 3000 years ago, it is still wrong today. Obviously, if God says, "Don't eat from the Tree or you will die!" you don't eat from the tree! And fruit is far healthier than the death food, known as bacon! So then, why do Christians disregard the Law of God which clearly tells us what we can, and cannot, eat? Can anyone explain this to me, without twisting scripture?

The bible makes it clear consuming swine is sinful. So why do some pass it off as moral, when it clearly is not?

Christians are not under the Mosaic law that's why. That's the best I can say. Someone asked the preacher John Piper about it and he agreed. Christians are not under the Mosaic law. Jesus was a practicing Jew at a time when breaking the Mosaic law was equivilent to breaking the law.

Today, believers in Jesus Christ are saved by the grace found in the New Covenant, and as Paul taught, believers are not bound by the regulations of the Law found in the Old Covenant:
Rom. 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Rom. 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Therefore, Gentiles and those who believe in Jesus Christ are free to consume pork or anything God has made. It is not a sin, because the restrictions found in the Old Covenant apply only to Israel apart from the grace of the New Covenant.

Sooo... I can go out and kill somebody then? If we're not under the Law of God, then it is total anarchy. Every man for himself! I can go out and do whatever I like, because there is no law now!
Now you are being a silly rabbit. You know what I mean. Most non-believers in Christ know how to follow the laws of society and we are not in total anarchy. Its the disobedience to God and not putting God first that leads to anarchy.

Those animals were unclean. Not everything that is unclean is a sin -- some of it is simply not clean.

Lobsters and shellfish are bottom feeders, and filter the toxins out of the water. We still think they're delicacies (or staples). Ravens and vultures eat carrion, the wolves and big cats are carnivorous. Many of the approved animals were herbivores... not all... but in carnivores, many of the toxins and parasites accumulate from one host to the next.

The hoof issue was apparently related to how animals release toxins through their feet, and also take in toxins and hookworms from their feet... among other things like ruminating. I'd look it up for you but am running out of time.

Doesn't it say in the bible all things that God made on our planet our for us to eat when it comes to animals? Either way I am pretty sure only Jewish people believe in food restrictions (Kosher). I love bacon btw, although at this point I can't eat it anyways lol.

I think Itagaki has a point. Jesus did say in Matthew 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. With that being said I guess it would be a sin to eat bacon. As a matter of fact I guess if you want to go on with this topic, I guess we could say that other laws in the bible are constantly being broken according to our culture. See below:

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24
(It would really suck for the girl to be mute in this scenario huh!)

And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and
the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 20:10

If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

I could go on if you wish. The fact of the matter is I believe the Law was created specifically for that culture in that period of time. In other words it isn't relevant to this day. Although eating pork definently is unhealthy for you as mentioned above. I do however, think the 10 commandents are relevant for today.

What does the Bible say about what foods we should eat (kosher)? Are there foods a Christian should avoid?

However, I would say that you shouldn't eat foods that are used as offerings to other gods and pagan rituals.


And no, you can't go out and kill people. You should still keep God's commandment: Love others as you love God. Which means that the 10 Commandments are still in control.

Do you observe the Shabbat? I certainly hope so.

I presume you go lights out from Friday at sundown till Saturday at sundown, not leaving your home, working, or using any appliances.

That is what it means to observe Shabbat.

Moslems do not eat unclean food, like swine, either.

I am not sure what you mean by Shabbat. If you mean the entire Old Testament Law then no I do not observe it. I was using those verses above to illustrate that some of the Old Testament Law seems to be irrelevant to this day, if not insanely cruel. In regards to eating pork or unclean meats I have tried to stay away from them in the past, but I do sometimes consume them, but not regularly. Expelled from my people must I go!!!:D
