Secular, Christian..... Whatever. I think the curcial point is to look at your heart additute and ask God to reveal His will to you. Fill your heart and your mind with things of God. Then the question of what's ok and what's not will fade with your desire to serve and live within The Fathers will and love.
Blessings in Christ

im wise enough not to smoke weed or be in a gang becuase they mention it.
Then why worry about listening to it. Didn't you already say you're wise enough not to do that stuff? You don't think it's good for you, so I'm sure you don't think it's good for others, right? So, you can listen to it.

Would you ask, "Is it okay the read The Scarlet Letter?" just because it deals with adultery and we know that's wrong? It's okay to read that - so why ask if it's okay to listen to music?

And yes, my favorite music is Christian - though there's other good stuff, too!

i don't think theres anything wrong with listening to non-chrisitan music....to an extent.

if you one of those people who is gullible and wants to be like someone else, then music is not for you, many a band/artist will be based solely on image, and if you let that corrupt you, then your out of it.

as for listening for musical pleasure, go ahead. Personally i have a tase for death and black metal. In which SOME bands do talk of athiesm, violence and satan, but if you ignore the fact that they sing of such things (its hard to understand most of them anyway) you can find some really talened music, which is what i listen to for relaxation and musical inspiration. (yes, brutal guitar riffs and growling makes me fall asleep)

besides, without a message, its just music, so if you don't give it a message, you only have music.

hahaha, Screaming and mad solos make me fall asleep, I guess it's from falling asleep while watching my dads band play when I was like 2.

Have you considered merging topics that are similar in topic into one so we don't have 500 topics of people asking the same questions?

CJ
well if we cant merge topics maybe we can direct them to the already existing threads so they can get more input?

i think it is a good idea to merge if possible. it would really help a lot.
