Is it a sin to kill spiders?

I'd say it's not really a sin, especially if you kill a spider that is in your home and could potentially cause you discomfort or worry if you don't kill it.

Personally, if I'm outside or walking, if I see a bug on the ground, I usually step over it, not wanting to kill it if I don't have to.

The fact that anything loses it's life is a result of sin.

If a spider is a threat to a human or beloved pet, the death of the spider would be a lesser evil than the death of a person or pet.

Yet, if one went berserk with pesticides, potentially poisoning everything and everyone in an effort to "kill spiders", then that would be quite an error in judgment.

Spiders outside the house keep other pesky and potentially deadly/damaging insects in check.

Some types of fear are largely based upon ignorance. Studying about spiders, their routines/roles in nature, and learning to identify the dangerous ones from the relatively harmless ones, should help allay any overblown/unreasonable fears regarding them.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
<-----> James 1:13-15

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
<-----> Revelation 21:3+4

Funny just killed a brown recluse not an hour ago and feel terrible about it.

My view on it personally, not swayed by anything biblical. It's not cool, they are just as much a part of the world as us humans are, we must coexist. If one is trying to kill you, which usually they just want to spin a web and get their food and won't attack unless provoked or scared (much like humans.)

It's another life simply trying to life it's life. Nothing more than that, how would you want to be treated if you were that spider?

It's better to just put the spider outside.

No reason to have a fear of it, it is irrational. Just like there is no need to have a fear of snakes.

Please tell me it's not a sin to kill such a cuddly furry little creature.

Unless it bites you then it's self defense.

I don't think it is, but it is really not a good idea unless you know it's poisonous.

Spiders are the only bugs I tolerate because they eat up the more annoying ones like mosquitos, flies, nats, if big enough, cockroaches aswell (also known as the most disgusting creatures on the planet), and many others, so they're okay in my book.

they're non-aggresive too, so you don't have to worry about them if they've already got a web setup, as long as you don't walk straight into the web that is.

But if there is a spider in my house that I don't want to have inside, I just scoop it up with a paper towel (not killing it) and let it outside.
