My understanding of Scripture is that same sex sex is a sin, I don't believe the Scriptures address orientation. I don't personally believe that having homosexual desire (orientation) is sinful.

Well said. God speaks against the ACT not the orientation. Every sin is an act.

.

To be accurate it's not actually sex. Sex, in biology, means "male + female".

Even if homosexuality is statistically abnormal... so what? High IQ is also 'abnormal', doesn't mean it's bad.

Yes it is, the Bible says that not quoting at all, The bible says that it should be one man and one woman no other way. Amen period Amen

The Bible says a lot of things that we don't do anymore... like stoning people. Should we return to that too?

At that point in time Stoning was the just thing to do, for the wages of sin is death. Do you think after Christ died for our sins we still need to put sinners to death?

Okay. As a Christian you certainly accept our Lord's teaching in the seventh chapter of the Gospel According to Matthew, and there are more than a few people around here who believe they are now without sin. Where would you like your stoning to take place?

How do snappy sarcastic comebacks alter the definition of marriage in Christian truth?

Doesn't the mocking and distasteful snarky banter directed at Christians that see marriage the way Jesus did, from those that are supporting an altered view of it, just prove the idea that Sodomites were not all just homosexuals?

I don't see how it can be with all the openly homosexual church leaders we seem to have these days.
''law'' Leviticus 20: 13 If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.

1 John 3
: 4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

The definition of marriage has already been altered, multiple times. If we change it now it wouldn' have been the first time that we've changed it in history. Indeed, what we currently take to mean 'marriage' is very different from what our ancestors regarded as marriage.

no,
hebrew

Agreed. Just was wondering since Zaac claimed, "You read the words on the page and immediately do like the devil did with Eve:

"did God REALLY say that" ?", it appeared he was implying that the Bible was originally written in English or (at a minimum) there has never been any dispute over how to translate these verses among Biblical scholars. His comment made me wonder why there are something like 100 different English translations, where the "words on the page" differ between each version?

This has been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere on the site, but the long and short of it is: The Hebrew word translated as 'to lie with' in this particular verse is used everywhere else in the Bible as a word to mean coerced sex, i.e. rape. So it would appear that the original intent of this verse was to condemn coerced sex with men, as this was not permitted the way it was permitted with one's wife.
