The main point I see here -- you are an adult, and you are getting deeper and deeper into feeling trapped at home. What can you do to pull yourself out, and be more empowered?

I am 24, but don't know how to drive yet so I can't get away
I don't remember a lot about your situation.. I know you post here often enough for me to remember, sorry. You might want to look into options that shift your living situation.

There are jobs that offer live-in positions. Security at marinas, camp counselors, elder care institutions (they usually hire retirees), sometimes campus resident staff (they usually hire related degrees), live-in nannies and nurses... just start looking. Your best bet is home health aide, privately hired.

Here's an example:
Caregiver/Home Health Aide

Most of these positions are for short visits, but some are live-in for people who are not mobile. Some jobs just require housekeeping, some a little driving for groceries and errands, some require heavier nursing and personal care, but that will depend on the client.

High schools usually offer driver ed courses, sometimes in their continuing education programs. Find someone else to teach you to drive. (If you are physically able...some people aren't.)

I have started going to a new church in Miami called "el rey jesus" (evangelical )with apostol guillermo maldonado, please see page here : King Jesus Ministry | Miami, FLorida

I have noticed certain things which I do not like:

1.Guillermo Maldonado prayed for a man who was dead in a morgue, 23 hours frozen in a freezer, and he came back to life. What kind of miracles are these? Is this even biblical?

2. Members pray for you in tongues and i find this uncomfortable because I don't know what they are really saying or trying to get into my system. For all I know anyone from the audience ( there are a lot of people that go there) could be an infiltrate from the enemy and praying things in satan's name against me. When someone behind me put her her hands on me and told me i was going to get healed (which I didn't) I had demonic visitations and nightmares which still haunt me, I asked god about this ministry and I keep getting nightmares...

3. People fall on their backs when touched by the pastor, he knows the names of certain people in the audience (which apparently he has never known before) and calls them to the front to be delivered of X problems or healed, but in the bible there is not such thing as falling on your back?

4. He owns a house for 2 million dollars, but im not too sure of his economical situation but he's rich allright...

5. This is how it works : you go to that church and if you are new, you have to go to the front and accept jesus, then they lead you to a small room while service still goes on and pray for your problems, take your address, name, information then you are invited to a private class next Sunday morning where they give you a new bible . If you want to visit a retreat for 3 days you have to pay $45 for them to pray about you and make a deliverance.

There is more stuff I have found on the internet about him being a false prophet. Money seems to be important to them, encouraging the audience to be successful, make money and blah blah blah more money..

Personally I don't feel like going to this church, BUT MY MOM FORCES ME TO GO EVERY SUNDAY AND IS VERY MEAN TO ME WHEN I DON'T WANT TO GO. SHE WANTS ME TO FALL ON MY BACK LIKE THOSE PEOPLE AND LOOSE MY CONSCIOUSNESS ON NATIONAL TV (THEY HAVE A TV STATION OR SOMETHING)

I DON'T LIKE THIS CHURCH AND IM AFRAID OF PEOPLE IN THERE TOUCHING ME AND TRANSFERRING THEIR CRAP TO ME, WHAT CAN I DO? WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF THIS CHURCH?

Sounds like the Dog N Pony Shows of master-manipulator and mezmorizer Benny Hinn . Please, go to a balanced non toxic mainline Protestant Church ; the Bible warns us that in these last days there will be false teachers, Charletons, and unbiblical practices . If your Mom wont let you attend a different Church, then tune in on TV to either : In Touch Ministry with Dr. Charles Stanley , or, Dr. Adrian Rogers , or, Truth that Transforms Ministry with Dr. D.James Kennedy . These are good biblical Bible Teachers that do not teach in error. Regards.

It might be helpful to look at writings on cults, so you can discern what is beneficial from what might be manipulative. Here is one list -- debatable and not comprehensive, not necessarily defining, but tends to shake people up enough to say, "it doesn't have to be that way?"

There are other good lists too... search "cult definition, Margaret Singer" "mind control."

Warning signs of a destructive cult | Factnet

A destructive cult tends to...

  1. Be totalitarian in its control of its members' behavior. ..what members wear and eat...how members think, speak, and conduct...relationships.
  2. Have ethical double standard. Members are urged to be obedient to the cult...confessing all to the leaders...outside, encouraged to act unethically, manipulating outsiders..or simply revealing very little about themselves or the group. In contrast to destructive cults, honorable groups teach members to ...act ethically and truthfully to all people in all situations.
  3. Has two basic purposes: recruiting..and fund-raising. ..Honorable groups also recruit and raise funds. However, these actions are incidental to an honorable group's main purpose of improving the lives of its members and of humankind in general.
  4. Appears to be innovative and exclusive. The leader claims to be breaking with tradition, offering something novel, and instituting the ONLY viable system for change...
  5. Authoritarian in its power structure. The leader is regarded as the supreme authority...There is no appeal outside his or her system to a greater system of justice.
  6. Leader is a self-appointed messianic person claiming to have a special mission in life.
  7. Leader centers the veneration of members upon himself or herself...other leaders of genuinely altruistic movements focus the veneration of adherents on God or a set of ethical principles. Cult leaders, in contrast, keep the focus of love, devotion, and allegiance on themselves.
  8. A destructive cult's leader tends to be determined, domineering, and charismatic. Such a leader effectively persuades followers to abandon or alter their families, friends, and careers to follow the cult. The leader then takes control over followers' possessions, money, time, and lives.

When I saw this video, it reminded me of your thread here.
This pastor/internet host is so dedicated to his listeners, that he set up a video camera on his front seat on a road trip.

USS Eisenhower Coast Of Syria - YouTube

He was not off jet-setting with other pop preachers, taking a sabbatical, or sipping tequila by the pool. While taking care of a family responsibility, he also wanted to take care of his faith family.

Are lives always changed with miracles and financial windfalls? Lives change when people feel cared for.

...I'm so sorry you are going through this. The bible does speak of tongues, it'S A GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT... laying of hands is also biblical but not necessary to touch you, and praying for you is totally acceptable. However, no one, no one has the right to pressure you into doing anything you don't want to do. If you are not comfotable there...get out... pray to God that He will lead you where you can find your purpose. Sit down with Mom and without hurting her feelings let her know how you feel. You are an adult obviously seeking the Lord...invite her to visit other churches...God will let you know when you find the right one you will feel peace and safety. Read your bible...allthe answers to your questions are there...by the way I personally witnessed in my church someone die and we prayed...a week later he stood in front of our church to thank us. His car flipped landed on our curch property...we were practicing for drama...we immediately surrounded him without touching him and prayed intensely. He was pronounced dead at the scene when ambulance took him away. We continued to pray by faith...and he visited us to thank us. All the glory be to God. God bless you.

After reading your post then your replies to the people answering you. I access that you need to grow up. You state that you are 24. Then act it. I see that you are no more interested in hearing truthful responses to your thread than you are eager to know truth.
But i will leave you with this. If its questionable. It probably is. And more importantly is to understand the truths that we can stand on. These are found in God's Word. Not in a church that claims to raise the dead. How does this even bring glory to God thru Christ Jesus. Jesus never spoke of any other resurrection. But only the one at the last trumpet. So stop bei g deceived. Read the word and you will know....

i feel sorry for your mamma since you are a 24 yr old and dont even drive and still living in your parents house . are you one of those kids that are spending there lifes doing nothing, i think that first you need to move out that way your problem is fixed, the reason you are being forced to go is because thats your mammas house so you have to abide by her rules iwould've kicked you out already. and if you are going to judge please start with your own life and be careful when you talk about a man of God no matter what he does it is Gods job to judge not yours. God protects His children so He will make justice for them too. Remember God loves you but make your self independent and move out then you can make your own rules i give a high five to your mom but kicking you out would wake you up of your comformity and shake you a little.

A couple of things

Apostle is a designation not just for the original 11 (12 including Paul). Paul called several people "apostle," and just like "evangelist" and "prophet," are applicable to people today. An Apostle is someone who plants, opens, grows, and then hands off new churches to pastors, but maintain some authority there.

Also, I have seen a woman brought back from the dead. She was placed on a ventilator when she was brought to the hospital, but the doctors said she'd been without oxygen for at least ten minutes, and her EEG (brain wave graph) was completely flat. For four days, her brain was non-functioning. Then God happened.

20 days later, she walked out of the hospital, weak but alive. Doctors are still scratching their heads. She is one of my best friends.

Finally, no man of God with any sense of propriety will live in a multi-million dollar mansion while there are hungry mouths to feed in their city. I don't care how much money the ministry is bringing in, it needs to go for a moderate salary for the pastor, and the rest to missions and similar charities.

Finally, the "falling down." Years ago, when this became popular, people were getting healed instantly of cancer, heart dropsy, tumors, etc at these meetings. As a secondary effect, some of them would "fall out" in the Spirit, or be slain in the Spirit. Today, too many people seek that as an end in and of itself, but if it happens, it should be secondary to a miracle. Usually. God can do what He wants, of course.

quick note ...

personality cults can easily be spotted because of how they use money.
people who are fakes are using th scheme for personal advancement and wealth. therefore, as you get involved - pay attention to demands or requirements to give money. that is a big warning sign. exit immediately if you see that thappening.

i would treat the things you are describing with a great deal of caution. it sounds bogus to me.

blessings,
Gideon123

Some of us who are older have watched mainstream Christianity grow from a grassroots movement to an unwieldy giant. Wherever there is opportunity, people will step in and make use of it.

A minister can start out being called by God, walking in the power and favor of God, influencing people.... then as more people demand their time, they need to hire a staff to manage all the surrounding work.

The staff makes decisions, adds a board of directors for consultation, and then the minister's salary is increased. Buildings are constructed to house the increased numbers. Cameras and sound systems are purchased.... everything grows. What started out as the ministry of one believer becomes the occupational ministry of hundreds.

Then they need hotel rooms, private flights, conference room rentals, stadiums, more air time...
These ministries require expert technicians, MBA marketers... people skilled and committed to their areas of expertise.

When it gets to that point it's no longer what one speaker decides. It is a board of directors trying to manage a conglomerate of speaking tours, book publishing, tape distribution, emergency relief, schools.... the ministry grows into a city. (In fact, some seem larger than a city.) The speaker continues to teach, and lets everyone else do their job as the board sees fit.

The speaker acquiesces to suggestions about a better haircut, styled clothes, manicures, buffed shoes, spanks and eyebrow shaping. The speaker hires accountants to manage the book and tape royalties... and accountants insist the money needs to be invested in properties, to delay full taxes. Wealth grows, and appearances of wealth increase.

The clutter in a normal day increases to the point where the speaker has lost touch with how they started in the first place.

Growth is not necessarily good.

If you want to see the power of God work mightily among you, then recognize the responsibility of EACH member, to pray for each others' wellness, strength, and protection -- physical and spiritual. Feeding the monster of top-heavy leadership can sap the life out of a fellowship.

Dear Holy me.... I identify with you, since I personally was very involved in the ERJ ministry!

First I would like to congratulate you for keeping the faith and seeking advice, that is the wisest thing anyone can do when in doubt. The bible says that wisdom is found in the multitude of counsel.

You just have to be careful were you find the counsel. I would simply not listen to "longhorn's advice" stay away from someone who tells you to leave your home, to a uncertain future. If you feel that your mother is controlling you, there are ways that you can approach her and try to come to an agreement. One of them is bringing her to this site and allow her to see all the different opinions.
I will offer more on the topic later.

You said: I have noticed certain things which I do not like:

Of course this is biblical, Jesus talked about it, he did it, and commanded his disciples to do it. Later after Jesus resurrection from the dead, he told his followers that they would have the Holy Spirit to help them accomplish the work that he left believers, to preach, to heal, to set captives free. Set them free from sin, sickness and demons. All too biblical.

But:
Miracles still happen today, I have witness my nephew get healed from cancer, my dad get healed from arthritis, my self and my son from deceases! but the big but is it all depends on Jesus work, not on Maldonado, not his ministry, not simply my faith or yours, not even my walk, it is all in God's hands, his grace, his favor, your acceptance of the miracle, your constant prayer, someone else's prayers, faith in healing, your walk and my walk.(living in sin or not) all matters, and all does not matter. I am sorry if I lost your train of thought but the point is that it is all up to Him!!! I have heard Maldonado multiple times claim that is all because of Jesus, he just fails to mention that sometimes it is God's will for certain individuals, certain infirmities not to be removed from us. We must learn to honor God despise what he allows in our lives. He is Lord! Otherwise the ministry is sound, I learned a lot from them.
"the big but is not the fact that people get healed or not in ERJ the problem is that it has become a place to milk the people out of their savings, they preach on giving for half hour before the sermon starts!"
This and many other little things made me leave the ministry! They are on the verge of becoming a house of thieves as described in the gospels by Jesus" I pray that Maldonado repents and comes to realize it.

Please stay with your mom! be cool, be obedient as long as your beliefs in God are not violated! or as long as you are not in danger! obedience to our parents is God ordained, with a promise of a long life!

The only problem that I can see from you being there is that you will learn a lot about expecting and too little about devotion to God. Just stay away from compromise that are unrealistic. They will pressure you for time, for money, for obedience, for submission, as a matter of fact submission is a big word in this ministry. "The guilt card", that is why your mother is playing it on you!. But please forgive her she loves you, I am sure, and wants to see that you come to know God. God also loves you, trust in him, and he will guide you and your family to a church that really cares and preach the word. I am a Baptist and most Baptist churches are ok, they have sound doctrine but a lot of them shy away from the gifts of the spirit, the best are the ones that believe in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Assemblies of God are great!

I think you've worked out the answer to your own concern just outlining what you do not like about this man or his church.

From the way you describe it it sounds like everything about the place is false.

The question is are you going to stay while feeling this way? Or are you going to follow God's wisdom that is speaking these warnings to you and flee the wolves in sheeps wool that make a fortune fleecing the gullible?

I have started going to a new church in Miami called "el rey jesus" (evangelical )with apostol guillermo maldonado, please see page here : King Jesus Ministry | Miami, FLorida

Hi. Regarding #1 above, what is the evidence ? Any newspaper coverage of such an enormous event taking place ? Who were the witnesses ? Please reply.

Im pretty sure that this particular Preacher has a 'falling over ministry' which in itself is very suspect. What I mean by that is, he lines up people in a row and in cookie-cutter style goes down the row with everyone falling over backwards with Catchers awaiting their fall. Im not disputing the fact that God can overwhelm a Christian to where they swoon...but when its like a manufacturing process, it becomes very suspect to the antics of socio-psychological manipulation whereby people 'accomodate' the desires of the Preacher and the expectations of Gatherers around the person. Benny Hinn is an expert on this particular thing often encouraging tens of people to 'swoon' following his pre-announced goal . We need to be on guard about such titillizing emotionality.

Other forms, come by way of rank verbal heresies .

Remember, in the last days MANY will be deceived by False Prophets and be swept away by them ...because they didn't use Gods Word as the standard of truth to keep them from following error and what their itching ears wanted to hear. Be careful. Cya.

The thread is over. The author of the OP isn't around anymore. Maldonado has not raised anyone who's been frozen for two whole days.
Perhaps you'd be better off addressing your remarks in a PM to "LastDaysWarning", who revived this thread in June.

Unless Maldonado is dead now, this topic is still valid relating to the fact if he's still in business. And the opinions of others regarding his claims.

And it would appear he is still alive because he Tweets. Link

" For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matt 7:2 - whatever I post it's after I remember and sometimes it's not worth it to me. If I do post, I watch what I say and how I say it. But that's my standard.
