There's no justice in creating someone so terrible that he/she would deserve eternal torture or annihilation, though, imo..

It's not up to you.

I'm curious, what will the universalists do when they realize the truth, that the punishment is eternal, will they declare God as unjust to His face?

How little of the love of god is known. This happean at the cross and guess what everbody was there. Some don't know it, other are ardent about it. But ALL will fall on thier face before it.

.

It is difficult to understand the justice of God, but I am of the studied and prayerful opinion that much, if not all, of the views of hell and heaven in the scripture is couched in metaphorical terms. All I know for sure is that hell is not where I want to be.

But I can agree that it is difficult to accept that the God of Jesus would eternally, without end, forever and ever, torture those who disobeyed the Gospel during this brief snap of the fingers we call mortal life. Annihilate them, destroy them, remove them forever, I can understand, but to torture them forever does seem like overkill.

That’s why I do not like to talk about the speculative, echatological side of the Bible. I am content to believe that Jesus will return someday and that there is an afterlife of joy for believers and one of misery for unbelievers. I will not take it much further than that. I'll leave that to the John Hagees and Tim LaHayes of the world.

Sis you hand in there. Some only know the doctrine of condemnation.

Wow, such a false representation of what is actually believed. The fact that one realizes the punishment for breaking a law doesn't mean they live in condemnation, even though the Bible says they are condemned. The Good News is that God gave His son, so we may be saved.

If I go to a doctor and he says I have a disease that requires a cure, yet I don't want to take the cure, is the doctor sharing a doctrine of condemnation by telling me about the sickness? You may think so, but I'm pretty sure knowing the sickness makes me appreciate the cure more.

...I'm sure we've run around this bush before.

You're right; it's deja vu all over again, LOL! :)

I might unsubscribe from the discussion here soon so as to stop the cycle. Besides, I've got some potentially serious drama here on the homefront for which I should conserve my energies. :prayer: Any further involvement of mine here in CF will therefore likely be redirected to the more fellowship-oriented "lighter fare".

Like I said God and man have nothing in common. Thank God for Jesus Christ.

This is interesting, an no word 'Aion' in sight to squabble over.

Isaiah 66:22-24
"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."

What would you do if Satan one day defeats God, claims the throne of heaven, and tells you to bow down and follow his demonic plan or he will torture you forever?

When has it ever been a numbers thing? If it was numbers, Jesus was the worst, as He lost all but a few when He was preaching. The word is bad, as 25% of it fell on good soil, the rest was destroyed. It's a love thing but equally a justice thing. Satan doesn't win in hell, he's there being punished just like the rest. Sorry, when you talk about what 'they' believe, it seems to line up with the Bible more than what you believe.

Thats not true. Jesus said he only lost one. But that was to or for the will of the father. Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was his flesh on the cross. I'm not the one not talking about the creation and all things. they are.
