No Evanesance is not a Christian band nor are they proclamied Christians. But that doesnt make their music bad. I bet you are wearing clothes are driving a car made by non Christians.

These forums are not much of a Christian forum...this whole place says we are Christians but of the world too.wow.even tohugh i'm here to help non-Christians with probs and stuff, but I can't believe what has happened to Christian life.A Christian needs to be an image of CHrist.now do you tihnk watching MTV or any other things liek that really something Jesus Would do.if you really want to serve God you would not

DO YOU wathc ANY non-Christian show including the news??
DO YOU wear any clothes made by a non-Christian?

Do you sing HAppy Birthday....that isnt a CHristian song! The point is either way people can take things to far. Those in your category go to the extreme of saying nothing secular can be good and then there are those that say everyhting is good. We must accept change or the faith will die! There is NOTHING wrong with listening to this band. The lyrics are great and outstanding. They are not proclaimed Christians but the influence for Amy's lyrics came from her days in the church!! She met some of the members at chruch camp.

geez! you should really look at my site, www.wisemenpromotions.com

Well I listen to secular music, listen to Evanescence, and MTV as well as BET because it's my choice and preference.

Do whatever you want. Just don't go around trying to push what you think is 'right' onto other Christians.

Also why do you keep posting here if you don't want to talk about or listen to any secular music anyways?

THIS IS MY 4TH request for you blazin to answer the questions I asked above!

Dont push about a band you know nothing about. The thread is about Evanescence which you know NOTHING about.

Let me ask this to anyone who thinks that Secular music is horrid and shouldn't be listened to... Apart from your apparent argument which you hold no backing to, why are you even bothering to come into the secular forum? Just to argue? Is that Christ-like? To come in here just to argue with people who happen to like secular music? You think you are saving people from eternal hell by arguing with us? It's just angering people.

My point is, if you want to whine about how we aren't being Christ-like because we listen to music that doesn't have the words "praise you Jesus" in it, then you are a hypocrite because you are just coming into the secular forums, which by the way, is meant for people who like secular music to come and talk about it, just to argue with people. And is it not also a sin to temp people into anger?

Here is my .02 cents. Stop whining, and go back to the Xian music forums and leave us alone.

someone close this thread please
Why should the thread be closed?? Just beceause you don't like secular music? If you alone were to elave the thread or at least your attitude towards the thread, then half the problems would be gone.

I like Evanescence, I don't love them, but I like them. They are a good band, and personally, "Tourniquet" is one of my personal theme songs. :)
Personally, Torpedos by MDFMK is a good theme song. Then again, I know almost nothing about pop.

Evanescence isn't a christian band, but that doesn't mean the members aren't christian. whether they are or not i dont kno. All there songs are good and people can relate to em. The lyrics are really deep and touching. The singer, Amy Lee is really good. i saw them live and it was awesome, pure bliss. Her voice is amazing, it sounded better live than on the cd.

this is from an article from vh1.com

VH1: Did you initially want to be seen as a faith band? What changed?

Lee: I certainly didn't. Other members of the band did. We've always had our own beliefs. I don't think two people in the band think the same thing. In the past, other members of the band, who I won't name, stepped out of their bounds of representing the band and talking about their personal beliefs and it got thrown into the band's beliefs. That's not what this band is about. I don't want to alienate anyone. If you get a Christian message out of our music, cool, that works for you. We're just trying to write about our lives.

I heard somewhere that the reason that Ben Moody had qualms with the band and left is because he and Amy Lee met and were originally going to be a Christian band, but then the label decided to make them mainstream. But, my friend from the Little Rock area says that they've always been more of a punk band, even before they were signed.

I think the case with Evanescence is kind of a reverse of what happens with a lot of Christian songs; some songs from Christian bands are not 100% clear so they could be interpreted as either Christian or secular even though the band is marketed Christian. Evanescence is marketed as a secular band, but some of their songs could be interpreted as secular or Christian.

My favorite non-Christian band, Dexter Freebish, released a new CD recently. There are two songs on the album that are ambiguous in the sense that they could be interpreted either way as if he's singing about God or about his girlfriend. One of them I am about 99% sure it's about God. The other one I can go 50/50 on.

Also, I also don't think a band has to label theirselves as Christian in order to put a great clearly Christian track on an album. I personally think "Bring Me to Life" is a great song that could be interpreted as a person's outcry for the need of Jesus, even in the band is not labeled as a Christian band.

it says in the BIble to walk in the steps of Christ.or WWJD.now do you honestly think Jesus would lsiten to it when its mixing the world's rock with Christian words?

I think he would because Jesus never got caught up with stupid stuff of the world and looked at the bigger picture; people who write praise songs whether it be rock or hymns are still praising him nonetheless, and that is what's more important.
