Why? In the hypothetical, sex is there to form close bonds between people, but that doesn't mean you have to have it all the time, and you certainly wouldn't be sinning if you chose abstinence.

Exactly, sex forms a bond between two people as well as possible conception. It's no more immoral to practise abstinence and forgo the bonding part of sex than to use contraception to stop the conceptive part.

As Belk has said, biology has nothing to do with morality. The biological purpose of eating is to gain nutrients and energy to run out bodies. That doesn't mean it's immoral to enjoy a bag of chips, or a chocolate bar just for the taste of it every once in a while.

Fornication rarely involves the desire to be with one person forever. Apart from that, there really isn't any real difference between extra-martial, pre-marital, and post-marital sex.

Once again, if God Plan is being restrained by a simple contraceptive then he isn't all powerful.

One must admit, given that contraceptive measures still fail no matter what we try to do to make them better...I fail to see how God is supposedly lessened or "challenged" by them. I mean, assuming the all-powerful and ever present busybody God a lot of people seem to suggest, wouldn't he just say "I can do it even with contraception"?

And maybe (in the metaphorical and tongue-in-cheek/skeptical sense) God gave us the option of contraception? You know, an "are you smart enough to actually think first?" kind of thing.

Just a thought I had...

They fail the way a chair fails. In that they generally don't. The challenge would come for the reduced chance of pregnancy. Pregnancy that God apparently wanted in the first place according to Mandy.
