  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is being Wiccan moral?

Well I talked to a wiccen who said he loved the power over other people. This is imoral !!!!! Why are you on a Christian site? Is it because you wan't to talk to Christian?????

:sigh: People like that give Wiccans a bad name. There are some who say they are Wiccan and yet they don't follow our basic beliefs, which leads others to think we are like them, which isn't true. I think that striving for power over people is immoral as well, and you can ask other Wiccans on this site if they would agree with me, and I believe they would.

As for why I'm here, it's because I like religious debate and I like hearing other peoples beliefs. That way, I can understand them better :) I am the only Wiccan in my family, all of them are Christians, and several are ministers, so I can talk to a Christian anytime I wish :D But not every Christian believes the same way and it's nice to get a perspective on how others think.

Blessed be,
Myah

Myah, I hear wiccans talking about the moon quite frequently, and I see you have one in your avatar as well. May I ask what it means? One person said some strange thing I couldn't understand about her causing the waxing and waning of the moon with her hand. It was a most curious statement, and I never did figure out exactly what she meant by it. I was hoping you could enlighten me.

To me, the picture of the three phases of the moon represent the Goddess in her three aspects, Maiden, Mother and Crone.
None of the rituals I practice involve causing the moon to wax or wane with my hand, but I'm a solitary practioner, so others might know what you are talking about as most Wiccans practice differently. :)

That is a good question. Respectfully, what is the significance of the Moon and other planets or other bodies in the Universe? I ask this for a philosphical reason. Does your faith speak to man's place in the universe (the scheme of things?) Most people have asked a few deep philosphical questions at some time
in life (or perhaps many times).

Why am I here?
What is the meaning of Life?
What is the nature of the universe, and what is my place in it?
Am I supposed to be here? Why?
I am curious - is there an answer to everything?
Why does God exist? Did God always exist? How can something, such as an entity or a concept, such as God always to have existed? As mortal, always
is a strange concept, because in all of my experiences, things must have
both a begining and an end. Does God, the Father of Adam and Eve, have
a Father? A Mother? A Wife? Is God lonely? Are we alone in the Universe?

Unfortunately, all I can respond with are my own beliefs, Blissman. Each Wiccan here might give you different answers according to their own Tradition (if they follow a Tradition). As for me, the moon is my main focus, but when doing rituals, the sign the moon is in as well as it's relations to the planets is important.
When you say man's place in the universe, do you mean man as in sex, or man as in human? :)

Listen...... Why don't you guy's and girls make your own wiccen loving forum. I don't think a christian forum is the place to portray your views. Since wiccen is very sinful you are not going to taint a Christians views. You make it sound like wiccens are fun loving people. Well can you tell me about the wiccens who vandelized my friends church and then to top it of killed a pig and then smeard it's blood all over the wall's spelling out the word WAR!!!! Please leave us alone or else I will report to the adminastrator!!!!!!!

Not only is this extremely offensive, it's also uncalled for. This section of Christian Forums is for Christians and Non-Christians. It's for learning about other's beliefs. I have never attempted to taint someone's views. I was asked a question, and I answered it honestly and without a harmful intent.

Wiccans would NEVER do what you have stated they have done. Perhaps they called themselves Wiccans, but they werent.

You have the right to believe what you do, but please don't infringe on my rights either.

Blessed be,
Myah

Yes this is a non christian site however first of all this is a debate topic I haven't heard any debating. Second of all I'm not infriging upon your rights I'm suggesting that you start your own wiccen forum! I'm also asking why you would think about coming on a Christian forum. None of you have adressed this question! I don't see what use you would have for this site. This is a Christian site. I would not go to a Muslim forum and talk about Christmas. Because this would deeply offend any moslems using the forum for their specific intrests. Third of all, I do not wan't anyone telling me I don't know anything about Wiccen. Though I don't devote my day to learning the values of wiccen. I do know enough about it to understand this pagan religion. So I ask you agian to find a different forum to talk about your curses potions and moon worshing ways!!! And if you think you can talk about wiccen and then when somone challenges you put them down as if they are culturly insesitive. Then I will start talking about Christianity. Becuase in the end GOD is almighty!!!!!!!!

PS. merry Christmas to you wether you are wiccen are Christian. Remember God loves all of you. But if you don't except you will go to hell. And I do say this sadly not happily. Because hate is wrong I love everyone on this earth. Thats what seperates me from Wiccens. See Wiccens HATE and I love! God bless, and just one more time merry merry merry merry merry Christmas!!!!!

I come here, as I have stated before, to learn about how others view Christianity. I try my best to be polite and will answer questions about my own beliefs if asked. If Erwin asks me to leave, or if I get an overwhelming requests from other Christians to leave this forum I will do so without a thought of malice.
If listening to others explain what and how they believe makes you uncomfortable, there is an ignore command. Feel free to ignore my responses.

Blessed be,
Myah

PS Merry Christmas and Yule to you.

GOD4ME, You stated above that you don't like to be told that you don't anything about Wiccan's, though you have clearly proven that you do not.

Also, there are Atheists on this board as well. It is called Christian Forums but it welcomes all Religions and Beliefs. If you cannot except that, then you should be the one to leave.

I think Wicca is more "moral" than some of the religions I have studied. I actually respect Wiccans more than Christians because every single one I have spoken to has told me that they consider every path valid, not just one as Christians do. IN my experience a Wiccan will actually live by their religion instead of some Christians who only do so one day a week.
I don't agree with everything they do, but yes..I would say they are moral.

God4Me- there are several wiccans and pagans on these boards. Erwin (the owner) is aware of us all so it would do little good to report us to moderators if all you have to report is our presence. Thank you for the Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and happy Solstice (it was yesterday) or as we call it- Yule :)

Whitehorse- you asked about the moon. The moon is generally seen as a physical symbol of the Lady or Goddess of both Wicca and much of the other pagan goddesses as well. In the new moon phase it is the moon of the 'dark moon' or the 'dark goddess' aspect (a fourth aspect of the goddess outside of the maiden mother crone that few wiccans rever due to it's darker nature) then as it waxes it is the maiden moon (a time of building up and flow towards the 'positive') the full moon is the moon of the mother the peak of the moon's power and the fullness of her grace. At the times of full moons the energy of the Lady is at 'high tide' and magic is often cast during Esbat or Full moon rituals. Then the waxing moon is the time of the crone, decay, a flow toward the 'negative' this is an entropic time when some choose to cast spells that would fight disease since the eroding of the moon's fullness is thought to aid in dismanteling a sickness with the same principle.

Hope that answers a bit more fully- again it's just a general set of beliefs some traditions may vary depending on the specific goddess the identify and associate with.

Hi, Bliss. Were you asking Myah or me?

Blessings,
Whitehorse
I was asking Myha (or another Wiccan). My questions are intended respectfully.
I was asking about Mankind, and not male or female. If because of your faith,
you structure male and female in your faith in to The Lady and The Lord, please
tell me.
I am sorry that I did not know the date of the Winter Solstace. What, please, does it mean with respect to your faith?

In the Jewish faith there is a holiday, called Succoth. (October 11-17). The festival of Succoth commemorates the protection given by the Israelites by God during their wanderings in the desert after their exodus from Egypt, and is a Thanksgiving for the fall harvest. Does Wiccan have a holiday that celebrates the (or a) harvest?

Yule is the Winter Solstice which is the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It symbolizes the begginning of the return of the sun (because from this day on the days will become longer until the longest day -Midsummer- when they will shorten again). The Sun is the symbol of the God or Lord as the Moon is the symbol of the Goddess or Lady. So it is a masculine holiday of sorts symbolizing that even in the deepest darkness of winter the promise of spring and summer is renewed.

Yes, Lammas, Lughnassadh or Cornucopia in early August. Although other festivels also celebrate the harvest to an extent, this would IMO be the major harvest festivel.
