We should never have to ask, "Should I be baptized?" because the answer is yes. There is no reason not to receive Baptism if you are able to. The right question is, "What is stopping me from receiving Baptism?" and the answer to that is nothing at all except human stubbornness.
God forbids no one from receiving Baptism. It's there for everybody. All human beings everywhere of every kind without exception.
Baptism is required for a man Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.Baptism is not required for salvation. Only faith is required for salvation.
Baptism is the outward expression of our faith. Baptism in and of itself is not required for salvation, but it is a required step in our walk with God.
Hi girder of Loins, greetings,
How could it be that baptism is required but in itself but not required for salvation? How then are you baptised? by man? by religion? please elaborate.
Baptism is required for a man Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
How would you express your faith and how could you step in and walk with God if you had not been baptised by Holy Spirit?
Thanks and God bless.
your brother in Christ.

By baptism, I thought the OP meant physical baptism. As John the Baptist stated, Jesus baptizes us in the Holy Spirit, and we baptize each other in the flesh. Of course baptism in the Holy Spirit is necessary, as that is our turning from our old life to our new life in Christ. But the physical baptism, which i was referring to, is not required to salvation, but is necessary to growing in the Lord.
Hi Girder of Loins greetings,
There are different meaning of baptism in regard how you look it.In church it is a sacramental or ritual ceremony signifying purification into a Christian church usually accomplished by immersion or sprinkling of water. For like me a non denomination and not affiliated with church; to be baptized is having personal experience which initiates or sanctifies by the Holy Spirit.
To be baptized is to personally know Jesus in Spirit and know is Holy name.
In Acts 19:2 Paul and Apollos met some believers who was received baptism of John the baptist, let's read the verse;
Acts 19:1-5 And it came to pass, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper districts, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples,
v.2 he said to them, Did ye receive [the] Holy Spirit when ye had believed? And they [said] to him, We did not even hear if [the] Holy Spirit was [come].
v.3 And he said, To what then were ye baptised? And they said, To the baptism of John.
v.4 And Paul said, John indeed baptised [with] the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on him that was coming after him, that is, on Jesus.
v.5 And when they heard that, they were baptised to the name of the Lord Jesus.
Now John the baptist is dead, Paul and Apollos were no longer here all the apostle are not around us and Jesus Christ has now ascended to heaven who are those now authorized to baptise us?
John the baptise manifested in John 1:26-27 John answered them saying, I baptise with water. In the midst of you stands, whom ye do not know,
v.27 he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to unloose.
Hope this help.
Thanks and God bless.
your brother in Christ.

Hi,yeah, I was under the assumption the OP was talking about the ceremony, not the spiritual definition of baptism.
That is spiritual baptism. There's a few reasons I have problems saying that the Bible doesn't mean for us to be physically baptized.
Hi Jordan Fontenot greetings,
Correct, the true baptism is spiritual but to be baptized physically is done to show one's affiliation to church which he/she belong.
Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (Matthew 28:19)1) Jesus commands it at the commission.
One of the purpose of baptism is to give name to the one being baptise and to teach or baptise them in the name of Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.Problem here is the pastor/minister doesn't know there name.
It depend on church system of baptism ,some by immersion and other by sprinkling.) Every time, save once, that we are given an example of baptism in the Bible, somebody gets wet physically.
]quote]3) Jesus even says that unless we are born of both water and spirit we cannot be saved
4) Peter mentions that, pertaining to water, baptism now saves us. (1 Peter 3:21)
which also after a true likeness doth now save you, even baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection; ( Romans 6:3-6)
That is spiritual regeneration after baptism;Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:165) The original greek had conintations relating to things going into water and coming out changed.
Yes, For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.6) Paul mentions that there is only one baptism.
Aswhat I've said water baptism is to show affiliation with the church but the true baptism is here;Paul was obviously water baptized at his conversion, why would he preach a different baptism?
Acts 22:14-16And he said, The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sin. For thou shalt be a witness for him unto all men of what thou hast seen ans, calling on his name.
But water is not mentioned with that baptism...it is assumed. There's a few reasons I have problems saying that the Bible doesn't mean for us to be physically baptized.
1) Jesus commands it at the commission
This is definitely supportive of the importance of water baptism.2) Every time, save once, that we are given an example of baptism in the Bible, somebody gets wet physically.
He says you can't "see the kingdom" unless you're "born again". He then says; "unless you're born of water and spirit you can't enter the kingdom". It does not say you can't enter into heaven though.3) Jesus even says that unless we are born of both water and spirit we cannot be saved
Only from a guilty conscience according to scripture. 1PE 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you,...as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,4) Peter mentions that, pertaining to water, baptism now saves us. (1 Peter 3:21)
Which is the 'baptism of death' that only Jesus underwent. Eph 4's "one baptism" has nothing to do with our baptisms (plural).6) Paul mentions that there is only one baptism
Because the church has missed the fact that there is more than one.7) Paul was obviously water baptized at his conversion, why would he preach a different baptism?

I keep hearing this, that baptism is the "outward expression of our faith" - or an "outward sign of an inner faith" or something similar. Where in the bible does it say or teach that?Baptism is the outward expression of our faith. Baptism in and of itself is not required for salvation, but it is a required step in our walk with God.
