  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There have also been studies/events that say just the opposite.

But not by qualified scientists working under the scientific method of investigation. There have been "science quacks" that have used the ancedotal method of investigating astral projection claims, but the ancedotal method is inherently flawed, because it merely reports the accounts of people who say they have done astral projection, and doesn't attempt to prove or disprove those claims.

By the scientific method, astral projection has been found to be nothing more than a seizure above the right ear.

pardon me while i laugh at this. It is just so funny to hear a creationist use science to defend something *giggle*

Actually scientific evidence is now suggesting that we CAN leave our physical body and that we may even survive the death of that physical body.

Using brainwave technology it was found that a certain combination of alpha and theta harmonics caused the immediate transference of consciousness away from the physical body.

There are professors and doctors at universities in this country currently studying OBEs and what exactly occurs whilst they happen. It is not such an outrageous event.

The Bible warns against sorcery which is the use of drugs to induce altered states. I believe even other religions warn that on the spiritual path many extraordinary things can happen. These things are not to be sought. They are in fact regarded as distractions. The focus needs to always be on God. With God anything is possible and can be of value but it becomes so easy to seek the gift instead of the giver. This is especially true when it comes to cool experiences or paranormal phenomenon. :priest:

Luckily for me, I don't consider your religon valid, and your bible the truth. BTW Sorcery isn't "the use of drugs to induce altered states"
you can replace sorcery with shamanism and perhaps be more accurate. I am sorry yoru religion does not involve "cool experiences" i feel sorry for you.
I am amused that some christians and many others are so afraid of altered states of conciousness. I enjoy leaving behind the familiar confines of my conscious awareness and venture inward to explore the psychological landscapes of my mind. It is a fantastic place that modern science and your religion has no grasp on.

BTW do not speak for ALL christian. there are christians who practice shamanism. there are christians who don't belive the bible teaches drugs as being wrong.

Just because many religions may believe/teach/state that something is true/right/wrong, it does not make it so.

Just ask anyone before the 16th century what shape the earth is. :D

Hello all, ex-pagan of ten years speaking here. I knew so many other wiccans and pagans and we spoke a lot of astral projection. I even had a few books about it and was intrigued by the idea. However, none of the pagans I knew had ever pulled it off and honestly I never tried that hard because in my heart I thought it was bunk. I did have a boyfriend once who began the initial stages of it and said he felt strange which was really odd to me because he was Mr. Science.

SqueezeTheShaman, I would like to issue a friendly experiment challenge to you. It should be even easier since I also live in Canada! Pick a time that is convenient to you and astral project to where I live and tell us all what I am doing. This should be very exciting!

Oh, I just wanted to let you know also, that for me at least, Christianity has brought me the "coolest experiences" of my life thus far!!
God bless you friend!

I did not say I could do it...i wish :) tell ya what...i need a new hobby...i will try to learn :)

I have had a few neat experiences, one was with automatic writing, and another was when my husband and i were reading each others minds, using symbols, colors, numbers....they were both after intense meditation sessions....and they were both quite fun and surprising.

I have a question, lambslove, where did you get your information? anyway other than that, real or just in the head, whats wrong with astral projection? it still has good effects, one time when I was astral projecting either God, or my gardian angel was speeking right to my heart, it gave me alot of understanding, and it took away the negitive emotions that I was having that week. and by the way, that might be some good information to disprove it, but there is also alot to prove it, and even if you get a brain seizure that dosent prove that it isent real, and also people who project not only project to differnt places, they project to differant times, so whos to say if they were wrong about the room, they could have been seeing what it looks like in the past, or feuture, you might be right, and you might be wrong, but all i'm saying is, keep an open mind, and do some research, its worth it just for the good that comes out of it. take care
