I don't think its sinful but it could be part of some kind of mental illness or mental health issues, such as Asperger's or autism.

I hate seeing autism described as a mental illness. I know it is in the DSM V so can be described that way but it is no more a mental illness than Down Syndrome.

Autism certainly can have many mental health problems assosciated with it. While I do not favor devaluing the personhood of autistic individuals, I was trying to imply that asexuality is not necessarily "healthy", even if I do not consider it sinful.

Is my lack of sexual interest immoral or wrong in the Christian faith?
I would guess that the only people who would consider your orientation in and of itself to be sinful are those who think that all LGBT+ people choose their orientations and gender identities.

I want to apologize and clear up any confusion I caused. People on the Autism Spectrum need mental health professionals to diagnose them and to help them function. I was just trying to lament the fact that it is called a mental illness and putting it in the minds of some that it isn't real or that you can be cured.

Why would it be, if the asexual person is otherwise happy and well-adjusted.

For some folks called to celibacy, it could be a blessing, in fact.

"Promoting" or "spreading" asexuality works just as well as promoting or spreading hetero or homosexuality.

ie: it doesn't work at all. Asexuality is not a communicable sexuality :p (wow, that'd be something though wouldn't it?)

While some humans experience a small amount of fluidity with their sexualities, not many can and the vast majority of human beings would be unable to go from being sexually attracted to other humans to being asexual even if they wanted to.

It'd be like throwing a pebble at a brick wall and expecting it to move.

The same can be said for asexuals. I have actually only experienced the desire for sex once in my entire life time. It went away the next day and never occurred for years. I had one moment of pansexual lust come upon me and I felt so dirty :D. I did not know what was happening until it occurred to me I was having a moment of sexuality. it felt so scary.

Only once has that "pebble" ever moved the "brick wall" in all of my years. Since then it has never occurred in all of my lifetime.

It depends on the level of autism. My brother has it but he can still speak and socialise ok, he just can be really inappropriate without meaning to. I do not see it as an illness for him though.

You said it better than I could

Anyway, being asexual is not wrong, but promoting and trying to spread it is.
...conservative religious people are the only ones who say that lustful thoughts are wrong.
