You are abundantly mistaken. The rich man's motive for keeping the commandments was his belief in God and desire to be saved but Christ held it was not possible by his belief alone but by God's election. Matthew 19:16-26

Since Paul and Silas admonished the Philippian jailer to believe, and he did, was his conversion legitimate?

According to Matthew 16-26 and other texts, election precedes belief; God saves us and helps us to believe.

You didn't answer the question.

I don’t respond to leading questions from Arminianists or Open Theists. That would be foolish. It’s prudent merely to state doctrine by scriptural support and expository in defense of compatibilism, which is what I advocate.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Again, according to Matthew 16-26 and other texts, election precedes belief; God saves us and helps our belief.

Francis Turretin’s compound and divided sense address a number of issues on predestination and I differ to him on many aspects of the issue.

I too stated doctrine by Scriptural support.

Acts 16
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

Act 16:30-34 is the divided sense. Romans 8:29-30 is the compound.

It's not about division. It's the divided sense. I'll let you do the research to figure that out.

If something is divided, it has experienced division.

There's nothing to figure out.

There's no division in believe.

Believe is a doctrine.

Nothing to figure out.

How you respond is irrelevant.

It's the only response I give Arminianists or Open Theists who are bent on asking leading questions. And I might add, misrepresent my responses as vacuous. The divided and compound senses address the issue. Figure it out.

Give any response you wish.

Nothing to figure out.

Believing
will save you.

The jailer and his household experienced and demonstrated it.

No senses involved.

By grace are we saved through faith; and not of ourselves: it is the gift of God.

The devils also believe and tremble.

That's not what the devils believe.

James wrote the devils also believe in the one God and tremble.

And the rich man in Matthew 19 also believed in the one God but he wasn't saved.

That's because salvation is a gift and not of ourselves.

The divided and compound sense addresses the issue. Figure it out.

No.

The devils believe that there is one God.

The jailer believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

Note the profound difference.

No.

Note the profound difference from what you're saying. You hold salvation is of ourselves, by merit and through our belief in Christ. That is not scriptural. We are saved by grace through faith and not of ourselves, it is a gift.

The divided and compound sense addresses the issue. Figure it out.
