Is $450,000 enough for each illegal immigrant separated from family?

That's more than enough for me. It's more than enough to have a house and car paid in full and live sustainably with only min wage job.

Would avoid living in expensive cities/places to maximize its value. Maybe go rural to have bigger patch of land.

The immigrants only need to be guided how to spend it wisely.

What do you think? The Wall Street Journal says the Biden administration is considering $450,000 each. What about victims, those raped, children who have been trafficked, those who have died from drugs due to border policies?
WSJ News Exclusive | U.S. in Talks to Pay Hundreds of Millions to Families Separated at Border

0$.

That should be the offer. The very moment Biden made clear that children would not be sent back to their home nations....the same illegals began chucking their children helplessly over the border. You can watch this on camera...

Those two Ecuadorian children are amongst 10s of thousands just like them since the Biden administration began its policies .

Biden Will Not Expel Unaccompanied Immigrant Children At The Border

If Biden's policies led to the separation of so many children, why are we paying for the very few it happened to because of Trump's policies?

This idea is crazy, first Biden invites people to break the law and then he wants to reward those who have broken the law. This is only going to encourage more people to break the laws.

Some of the familes have issued lawsuits against the government. I can see those familes may have a good case in law and their lawyers will push for as much as possible. The government will try to pay as little as possible. Whether that means a payment upfront instead of the cases going to court remains to be seen. It's quite common for the plaintiff to be offered an amount which might be less than a court might award but which is guaranteed. As opposed to risking everything on a court decision.

The Biden administration didn't cause People to be raped. This tends to happen way before they come to America. Also ,it better to pay for Trumps evil acts now, than later. Don't tell me Trump did this out of love. Because that's not act of love.

How much is enough when lifelong damage has been done by the Trump administration is separating children from their parents at the border for a long period of time - some still separated? They didn't keep decent records so at least a 1,000 are still separated, with the children so young, the damage to a parent-child relationship is immense. It was unholy and cruel.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...2bc50e-382a-11ec-9a5d-93a89c74e76d_story.html

Migrant families separated during President Donald Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” border crackdown are in talks with the Biden administration to receive significant financial compensation for the ordeal, according to three people familiar with the settlement negotiations.

The dollar amounts remain under discussion, but one person with knowledge of the negotiations said payouts could total $450,000 per person, with some families potentially receiving $1 million.

The U.S. government took more than 3,000 children away from their parents along the Mexican border in May and June 2018, the peak of Trump’s Zero Tolerance prosecution effort. Department of Homeland Security officials say the total number taken while Trump was in office exceeds 5,500.

In most cases, the children were separated from their parents by border agents and sent to government shelters, while their mothers and fathers were jailed to face prosecution for entering the country illegally.

Trump officials launched the crackdown with little interagency coordination and no effective system to track and reunite children with their parents, resulting in bureaucratic chaos, according to federal courts and oversight reports. Physicians for Human Rights, a New York-based human rights organization, called the separations “torture.” The American Academy of Pediatrics told CNN that it amounted to child abuse.

The Obama/Biden administration separated children as well when the adult was arrested the children were not placed in an adult prison. That is the way it is today under the Joe Biden regime, when adults are arrested for crimes and put in jail the children are separated. Should each individual get $450,000? Should it be only those who were separated while President Trump was in office. With many illegals only making $4000 a year in their home countries the border will be swamped with hopes of wealth beyond dreams. It's the taxpayer's money, should all criminals be paid for not committing crimes, or crimes, or both? Should we continue to bail out criminals, defund the police, while providing taxpayer money for security for the elite politicians? How much should the huge amount of women who have been raped because Joe told them to come here should get compensation, and don't you think Joe and his party should pay for it? Same goes for the children who are being trafficked, Joe gives them rides to be with adults without bothering to verify they are even relatives? What is a party willing to do for more votes?

Joe knew about the rapes and the child trafficking and the drugs yet told people to come--the more the better because it was more votes. His administration meanwhile assured the American people the border was closed. Just like he assured us he would not leave Americans behind in Afghanistan.
Just like he told us they trillion dollar bills wont cost the American taxpayer a penny. They are all paid for.
Now he has sicked the DOJ after those who dare complain at school board meetings, whether it be about rapes or porn material provided to our children. He will spend the taxpayer money against those who dare resist. If we continue this course it will be just the poor populace and the elite leaders left.

No, the Obama administration kept children who arrived ALONE separated from adults. They didn't take infants and toddlers and other children from the parents, and send them elsewhere and ....OOPS, we don't know where they went!

That was criminal imho.

Parents of 545 children still not found three years after Trump separation policy

Three years after Donald Trump ordered a crackdown on undocumented migrants crossing into the US, lawyers are still struggling to find the parents of 545 children separated from them under the “zero-tolerance” policy, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

In a court filing, the ACLU said that about two-thirds of the parents had been deported back to the country of origin in Central America, leaving their separated children behind. In the rush to carry out Trump’s orders, the locations of the parents were not recorded and three years later they still cannot be found.

You might have missed the post when it was explained that the familes concerned are suing the government? They feel that they have a case. Or at least, their counsel feels as if they do. I'd be interested to know how many families are involved, who actually was representing them, were they doing it pro bono, what percentage of any payment they might likely receive, what the details of each case are, what jurisdiction it's being heard, when it's being heard, what claims are being made, what sums of money have been mentioned and by whom, who is acting for the defendent and what offers, if any, have been made to the families so that they might drop the cases.

You know, the relevant details one might be expected to have before making an honest appraisal of the situation. So if anyone has more details?

I don't think it is right for the kids to be taken from these parents and LOST, so I'm not against something being done for them, but I don't believe that giving them money like this is the way to go. Perhaps waiving the fees for the citizenship process would be better along with a clear message that it is not a reward for entering the country illegally or even temporary separation from their children, but rather as some recompense for LOSING their children.

I imagine family therapy will be needed. And there are children still for whom the parents can't be found.
Some of those parents probably don't even have a cell phone. How do you contact them?

Exactly right. It might be the case (and I'd be very surprised if it isn't) that the families' legal reps are pushing for a ridiculous payment first up and are prepared to bargain. You'd have to be pretty naive to think otherwise. Citizenship might not be an option for some of them due to circumstances, but if the government has to decide between a half million OR citizenship...

Sounds like a deal to me. If families were separated and there was some trauma then apologise, welcome them with open arms and everyone gets back to work.

Today's kids over the border are controlled by the cartels. Bracelets contain the destination for child trafficking or whatever, and Joe arranges private flights during the night, which is of great assistance to the cartels.

Occasionally they are spotted at a destination, here's a sighting from the NY Post. As to bracelets, it is much more efficient for drug and sex trafficking for the cartels to keep track. The women have to work off debt else there families will be killed, as to the kids, some are too young to talk or remember their destinations so they can't tell the Biden people where they want to go-thus bracelets.

It is also quite common for a settlement to become a legal precedent, think of how many cases could be found by attorneys who want to line their pockets.
