If abortion is illegal, people will think twice about breaking the law to kill a baby. Which protects the unborn and harms absolutely no one.I disagree, I don't approve of abortion either but I think they made the right decision to leave the option open in some cases. They don't have abortion on demand as if it were contraception, so there's that.
I pretty sure tax payers don't pay for abortion at planned parent hood. Unless if it life and danger. Or the abortion pill for rape victims at the hospital. And you are crazy if you think getting rid of planned parenthood would stop abortions. And really it's non of our business if someone aborts. Less mouths for tax payer to feed and take care of . Just like Conservatives Christian don't like wasting money on those pesky babies. That they pretend to care about being born.If abortion is illegal, people will think twice about breaking the law to kill a baby. Which protects the unborn and harms absolutely no one.
Now that the legal restraints are gone, they will demand that the State fund abortions (just like the Left-Liberals in the USA and other countries). Planned Parenthood was given a whopping half-billion dollars to continue with their butchering industry by the recent Omnibus Spending Bill (which Trump failed to veto after threatening to do so).
So the Irish tax-payer will be on the hook for supporting something he or she totally disagrees with. It is only a matter of time. Give an inch and they want a mile.
Come on, give the man a break. He payed lip service, what more could you ask from him?Planned Parenthood was given a whopping half-billion dollars to continue with their butchering industry by the recent Omnibus Spending Bill (which Trump failed to veto after threatening to do so).
As long as the government stays out of it, and taxpayer dollars do not fund abortion clinics, etc. But all of this has been happening in the Western world. And really it's non of our business if someone aborts.
The Final Result
The final results of the vote to repeal the Eighth Amendment to the Irish Constitution have been announced.
66.4% of voters were in favour of repealing the abortion ban while 33.6% voted 'No'. Voter turnout was a record 64.5%. Only one constituency, Donegal, had a majority 'No' vote (51.9% 'No'). Both voter turnout and the 'Yes' vote exceeded the results for the 2015 vote on Same Sex Marriage (60.5% turnout, 62.07% 'Yes').
It's a great day for the Irish.

I don't know about a great day, but certainly they made a difficult choice and should be applauded for it. I don't approve of homosexual behavior nor do I approve of abortion but I appreciate democracy in action. Compared to the US and Europe I'd say they are very moderate in their legislation and this vote, it's not extreme by any stretch. It's when it's an issue where you are adamantly opposed that tests your confidence in freedom and self governance. Both were close votes in my estimation, I'm sure it's a tense political climate. I worry and believe me, I'm not happy about abortion in Ireland but I have to take this into consideration:The Final Result

None of this is subjective, this is pure historical fact. Making something illegal doesn't stop it, any more than Prohibition stopped people drinking.
Strawman.
Well all know that making something illegal does not stop it occurring; which is why rape will always happen. The Law though allows for people to be convicted...
Yes, and apparently locking up innocent women is your preferred solution. Which is why people like me will always fight to stop you getting what you want.
You mean because people who kill babies are innocent?
Crikey, if that's the standard you apply, I do you don't criticise the lesser crime of child abuse (lesser than killing)...
This is a Christian forum and I have no intention of abusing the hosts hospitality by entering into a moral debate with you about abortion. I’ve pointed out the practical failings of your argument, and you seem to lack any kind of compassion or understanding of the issue. As such, I’ll stop here.
