I know there is so much unrest in Iraq and that many people have differing views on the situations there but I would like to request prayer for Margaret Hassan, the latest British hostage.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw a video of her on tv pleading for her life. I felt so moved and dropped what I was doing at that moment and prayed for her. I think we all need to be in agreement for her and for all the others over there whose lives are in so much danger.

Heavenly Father, please embrace those who have been lost to us in Iraq, and elsewhere; please give comfort to those who grieve, and protection to those in need; help us to remain prayerful, and reserve judgment concerning others whose beliefs differ from ours; have mercy on those who ignorantly misuse your name, and bring protection to those who cross their path; may our leaders be blessed with insight to help us find resolution and healing, and guide us to peace. Thy will be done. INJC.
