  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just recently married a feller I met here.

A CF couple -- awesome! I'm dating someone I met here.

Of course you are welcome here! :)

Thank you!

Even if some of us disagree on certain issues I would hope that we can get along and offer the respect and love due to fellow believers.

Great! Thanks!

Macrina did you ever watch scifi show called Firefly?

Not while it was on, but my guy has it on DVD and I watched the pilot with him a couple of weeks ago. Next time I visit, he'll have to share more episodes with me. :)

Nice to see so many sci-fi fans here!!

Macrina, I wanted to welcome you here as well. Although (as you already know!) you and I disagree on the issue of women as pastors, I have a great deal of respect for you, and do very much consider you to be a conservative. I hope that others will welcome you as well, and remain respectful. I have no doubt you will bring a wonderful element to this forum.

I'm one of the few that actaully did see it back when I aired network TV which is funny a surprising large number of people do like the show when they see it nobody wanted to watch it though when it aired.

I actually did want to watch it when it aired, but it was never on at a time when I could watch. Plus they moved it around, I'm told, which may have been another reason I had a hard time finding it.

Hi, everyone. Looks like I'm the only Orthodox Christian in here so far. I guess I've been on CF for about 3 years now, so I recognize a lot of you.

I grew up in a Christian home, was Southern Baptist until I was in my late 30s, also spent some time off and on in Bible churches, then ten years in the Anglican Catholic Church (think conservative Episcopal) then became an Orthodox Christian. I've always been conservative theologically and socially. I've pretty much given up on politics. :p I'm 100% pro-life. As an Orthodox Christian, I may have some different beliefs about our faith than many of you, but I think we can learn a lot about each other. I'm looking forward to posting in here!

If you're interested some time I'd personally be interested to hear a testimony of your journey to the Orthodox church.

What lead you from baptist to Episcopal, and then what brought you from Episcopal to Orthodox etc.

Hi Folks..

I'll jump in here as (theologically speaking) I probably fit somewhere within all these threads.

Long time Christian, non-denominational mostly, somewhat conservative (although I am mellowing in old age..:D )...

I've spent most of my time here on CF in the Men's Corner and the various Christian Advice sections..

Angel4Truth here - my beliefs can be seen on my CF page and in my blog - I am very conservative and considered fundamentalist by most but dont really fit into the fundamentalist forum here at CF because I am not a KJV onlyist. However I do believe that scripture is inerrant. That only one man and one woman make a valid marriage before God and that the bible speaks against abortion.

My beliefs most closely resemble southern baptist theology however I do not like to limit the gifts of the spirit (but i am not charismatic either)and I also do not agree with some of the teachings on women in the church and i am not a calvanist - so I am basically a non denominational christian that really doesnt fit into one category except that I am conservative. I think the nicene creed defines a christian quite well.

Ive been a member for almost 4 years , have served on CF armory and CF staff and also been a frequent poster in the debate forums and support forums and relaxation forums because I have never found a congregation forum that truely fit me.

In my experience, labels such as "conservative" and "liberal" are slippery things, so I hesitate to apply them too firmly to myself. I tend to be rejected by people on both ends of the spectrum. In terms of scriptural authority, God's call to holiness in all aspects of life, and other such issues, my theology is conservative/evangelical. However, many people who believe as I do on just about every other issue will label me a liberal (or worse) because I am a pastor and believe my call is supported by scripture. So I don't know if I belong here or not -- a couple of people have invited me to come be a part of this forum, but I've been burned in the past... I'm sure you'll understand that I don't want to constantly fight for my right to be a part of this group. I don't post in "my" congregational forum anymore because of all the flames I was getting. I tried the liberal forum, and while they were nice and welcoming, I really didn't have anything in common with them. So... I'm going to lurk around here and see if this is a place where I might fit. It would be nice to have a fellowship forum to call "home." It's pretty much up to you guys -- if you can accept me as a conservative Christian woman who is a pastor, then I'll stick around. If not, then this isn't the forum for me.
Hi, I have no problem accepting you as well. :)

Hi folks!

I'm Izzy (and some of my RL friends call me that too). I'm a nerd and SF fan, just like a number of us here it seems. This does seem like a great bunch of people, and I'll be pleased to join you... as a regular guest I 'spose, since I can't honestly call myself a conservative, though I'm not a liberal either. I'll explain below.

I'm very orthodox on the basic Christian stuff, the Nicene and Apostle's Creeds, salvation by grace through faith, the literal truth of the Gospel miracles and the Pentecost gifts. I'm a huge C.S. Lewis fan. I go to a Pentecostal church (AOG), and I'm very happy there. So I'm that much of a conservative theologically, and I'm politically very conservative too, though in a libertarian way (note my LP icon, which is where my heart is, though I usually vote Republican for lack of other non-liberal realistic options).

OTOH,
I'm a theistic evolutionist. I don't hold to biblical inerrancy, or to all the traditional conservative positions on morals or culture. I often post on WWMC (where I'm probably one of the most conservative regulars). So I'm that much of a liberal. While I like you guys a lot and we agree on much, I can't really say I'm one of you. I guess what I really am is a moderate. Because of that, I'll hang out here probably a fair bit but I won't presume to vote on your rules and stuff.
