Hello all. Found this forum in a search for other things and decided to give it a try for a while. I had been a poster on Reddit r/TrueChristian for the last few years, but it's become too invasive by the atheist seeking to disrupt believers.
About me: I have been a believer most of my life; however, spent a number of years ignoring God and living in the world and in sin. I returned to the faith 3 years ago, not by any specific event, but more like dipped a toe in, it felt nice so I waded in deeper and deeper.
My approach to God tends to be more on the cerebral side through study, study, study; however, I have a much stronger spiritual side "this time around" than previously in my life. I have learned to hear God talking to me through His word or through someone else. I can "feel" His presence in me and when I have grieved Him. He is very real to me.
I also believe in study and practice of the Jewish roots of Christianity and am working towards not referring to myself as Christian, but rather one who is in Christ. I believe we are commanded to keep the law and when Jesus said to study scripture, He wasn't referring to the NT, but the OT. The idea that grace and the holy spirit is strictly a NT thing was debunked by the Thanksgiving Scroll from the dead sea scroll collection where it speaks of being saved by grace and by the Holy Spirit. The concept has always been there.
Anyway, it's good to be here. I hope I can help contribute to the community as well as learn for each of you. We are charged, afterall, to edify one another.
