  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was under the impression we were comparing American slaves with Hebrew 'slaves.'

There is no one-size-fits-all, when it comes to slavery.

In any event, I don't believe the Bible sanctions slavery, and It never did.

Just my opinion ... and hopefully "good news" to you guys, right?

You were the only one comparing it to American slavery, based on the fact that you "think" Davian had American slavery in mind.

Indeed, we do not even need to compare it to American slavery. The Bible spells out quite clearly what treatment of slavery is allowed...beating, raping, owning as property for life (as well as life enslavement for offspring of slaves), the discarding of women slaves who are not pleasing to you, marriage to multiple slaves, etc.

Yes, the Bible paints a perfectly un-righteous view of slavery all on its own.

Good day, and welcome to a special interview with perhaps one of the most knowledgeable men of science alive today. Since time is short, let's get right into it then shall we?

Sadder and sadder -- the only people dad can win an argument with are the people he invents.

Not at all.

I'll use your term ("slavery") just for the sake of argument; and to answer your question, the Bible's 'slaves' are not the kind of slaves I think you have in mind when you think of slaves. If Biblical slaves were mistreated, it was in spite of the Bible, not in respect to the Bible.
Are you getting apologeticky on me? lol. I was not talking about the treatment of slaves. I specifically provided a link, which details how the bible embraces slavery, to be clear.

The Bible and slavery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bible says it... that settles it.
Beats me, I wasn't there. He may have sent tordados, or He may have caused guns to misfire, or He may have drove key squads away with hornets.
Are you talking about omnipotent deities or the Keystone cops?
Let's just say I have a strong hunch.
Marty Feldman had a strong hunch. ^_^

O happy day. You also fail to address even a few of the science points. Foam and flem a case do not make.

So if the Egyptian slavery of Israelites was no different from the "indentured servitude" of Hebrew owned slaves, why was it necessary for God to save them from it?
His people needed to be free to learn of Him, and spread the word...so that slaves like you could be free if you wanted.

From your link

"The sun has "burned" for more than 4.5 billion years." Proof?

"The sun is a star, just like the other stars we see at night." Says you.

"The sun is composed of gas" Proof??

"All of the major features of the sun can be explained by the nuclear reactions that produce its energy, by the magnetic fields resulting from the movements of the gas and by its immense gravity."

They "can" be. But that takes a lot of faith. A lot of willing ignorance also.

I see no point whatsoever in a man who chooses to argue with his imaginary friends.

LOL, I am not even going to go on the others, debating anything with you is like talking to a wall, but this one is too funny to pass, you really don't think the sun is a star? Seriously? For real? So, quick question, for you, what exactly is the sun then? A giant light bulb?

A sun is a great light for earth. The stars are lesser lights. Why would I assume they are as big? The sizes are not known for stars. That would require knowing time and space far away. Distances are not known. You will need to totally recalibrate your conceptions.

If you COULD address issues you would. Run if you will, but let's call it what it is here. Did you address any of there for example? No.

I think it's rather clear dad has gone a little off the deep end this time, even for him.

But don't worry, I have the answer for him. In The Third God, by Ricardo Pinto, we learn in the Jade Lord Nephron's ritual of Apotheosis that the stars are actually sprays of blood from the Lord Turtle. Just like the Pillar of Heaven is Lord Turtle's heart, the earth his liver and his eyes the sun and moon. The entire world is actually the corpse of the primordial Lord Turtle.

what you wanna bet dad can't prove otherwise?

Think that your mind is in an imaginary world? Yeah, I am thinking that.
Blame it on whatever you think you need to. The facts are what they are and you do not know after all. The issue is not how astounded and startled you may be.
