Yes, I can speak High Tongue fairly well. I had little choice but to learn it since when I first crashed I landed in Serrani, an elf kingdom. I was there for a month so I picked it up at a good pace but the hardest part was differating some of the words, especially Who, what, where, and when, since they are all the same word 'ema' just with s a slight stress on the first vowel to seperate them. Two of my Isachar (bodyguards) during the war were elves so I spoke it a lot then too. Sennal's dialect was a bit different from the one Lehen and I spoke since she was from Jemmeca (an island nation that eventually became northern Sennal-Tal and where my capital is located).
Gaea is not that much different from Earth. Let me think... 4 continents - 5 if you count the Onogo Isles - 4 oceans, lots of wild terrrain. A few magic outputs like the Floating Mountains and the Shining Sea.
Depending on where you are structures will vary in size and shape. Serrani has a Roman look witha lot of trees, Shacry is a bunch of castles carved right out of the mountains, Deninvan has a early-1700s feel to its buildings, Midwen is the cross of medieval-cowboys, the Narar are nomads and have no buildings. Sennal-Tal itself is mostly an Aztec/Mayan stuctured kingdom. Lots of tall pyramid buildings with smaller villages surrounding them. Still a lot of wild terrain and jungles too, for the nymphs.
Technology, I miss real technology. Actually here it's techna. Then average Gaean nation has nothing more advanced that a ship with sails, and some of them only just discovered hw to use metal. The only nation to utilize techna on a massive scale was the Unity Empire, and that was only because the Emperor was from Earth too. They had sophisticated computers and WWII era weaponry (including you-know-what) but by an act of God they never figured out how to make effective machine guns. They also quickly developed cybernetic techna and Bio-enhancers and even tried their luck at cloning. The Gaean Alliance took some of this stuff during the war and has created some pretty wacky stuff.
As an Earthling, I have pushed foward to obtain as much leftovers from the Empire as possible, as well as use my own knowledge to duplicate stuff on Earth. Its been a slow proccess and magic is still the source of power, transportation, and everything else but I hope to change that soon.
