• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For those who oppose gay marriage, how would you deal with the link provided. I've asked this question before, and never gotten a response. Would you outlaw marriages in which one of the partners was intersexual?

If mpshiel is still here, I'd appreciate it if she explain intersexuality again, as my medical understanding of it is not as good as her's.

How is this handled legally today in the US?

TO be honest, I don't know, partly because the govt. itself does not know. THere is a lot of concern in the intersexual community that a legal definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, would prohibit intersexuals from marrying, especially since the government is unlikely to define what constitutes one man and one woman. Is someone with mosaic chromosones (some XX and some XY) for instance, defined as a man or a woman? Is someone who has so-called male chromosones (XY), but 'female' genitilia, a man or a woman? The govt. hasn't done a real good job of defining these categories.

Very poorly. There have been many legal cases regarding gender specific public acomodations like restrooms and there is absolutely zero clear precedent as to what to do.

You really think they are going to give you a real answer? You act as if their condemnation of homosexuality has a rational basis.

You think in this day and age doctors and scientists would be able to tell the difference between boys and girls. Sadly there seem to be some still confused. Anything to push the homosexual cause.

This has nothing to do with homosexuality. It is about identifiable medical conditions. If a person has one ball and one ovary, are they male or female? If some of their cells have XX chromosomes, and some have XY, then what? If they have XXY in all their cells? If they have XX chromosomes, but have testicles?

How is mutely pointing at something that exists pushing an agenda?

Oh, I am quite sure that WFTV knows it doesn't have a rational basis, and we all know not to expect "real answers." However, I think that people like you, Arnold_Philips, Mumei, Robbie_James_Francis, ChaliceThunder, EnemyPartyII, and myself already have a pretty clear idea about what they think.

That said, I'm looking forward to watching this thread progress.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the thread to progress. Most fundamentalists realize that the Bible really doesn't speak about intersexuality or even transsexuality. So, other than believing the God "doesn't make those kind of mistakes", they avoid these threads. The idea of a person who isn't part of the binary male/female paradigm doesn't fit into their beliefs and, as such, they are incapable of discussing it. At least that is the way it has appeared to me based on the previous threads on related topics in this forum.

Your not talking about anything dealing with the subject, just preaching a message of hate. My boyfriend says hi.

Now too the subject at hand. I really don't know what to say about intersexuality, i'm gonna have to study the subject more.

Dracon, I'm hoping that knowledge of intersexuality might help even one fundamentalist to change their minds about this issue, though i do admit its unlikely. I know knowledge of intersexuality helped clear me of the homophobia I inherited from my evangelical upbringing.

I'm sorry, but not every evangelical can be put into the "incapable of change" category, as much as we all might like to think so at times.

Twin Crier, its nice to know that fundamentalists don't know any more than doctors about sex assignment. Thats why the TVC, a major Christian group, favors what amounts to genital mutilation, in the service of a binary gendered society.

You would think that in this day and age that Fundamentalists would have learned that the world is not binary, it is not only black/white, good/evil, or male/female.
Well, if they did, wouldn't they stop being fundamentalists? At least in that capacity?

At least that is the way it has appeared to me based on the previous threads on related topics in this forum.

I often notice myself but when I see the more fundamentalist Christians debating intersexuality/transexuality or anything that vaugely goes outside a purely black and white view of the world they tend to either day "god dosent make mistakes" (with that being the extent of the argument) or link it to homosexuality (as has been done here). When technically neither of those responses have anything to do with gender whatsoever.

It's a shame that often on this subject there will be no debate as those are against it don't really have much to say on it other than "its part of the homosexual agenda". They can't discuss what they can't understand.
