If they would not listen to me, then that is their choice, but they would be held responsible. As for what kind of contact I would have with them, Im not sure, I suppose only a person in that situation can say, because that is really extreme. If I would have to guess, I don't think I would want to speak with either of them if they continued.
Leviticus 18:9
"Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere."
God Bless!
So are you advocating allowing them to marry while at the same time saying that it should still be illegal for them to have sex?Marek said:Incest is already illegal. We don't ask nicely. If they do have sex, there exists punishments for their actions. Just because they are married, doesn't mean they will have sex when they wouldn't if they weren't married.
Yes. It should be illegal for them to have sex if a pregnancy could result. I feel that they should have the option of steralization which could then allow them to have sex. But again, I think marriage and sex should be kept as separate issues.levi501 said:So are you advocating allowing them to marry while at the same time saying that it should still be illegal for them to have sex?
Because otherwise I think it's careless of society to legalize sex between them when there is possibility of a pregnancy.

do we want to encourage people to enter into marriage for non romantic reasons... basically for partnerships to take advantage of tax and other benefits/rights?Marek said:Yes. As a parent, I would advise them of what they would be giving up.
I have two sisters and one brother. One of my brothers was killed in a crash. I remember the quarrels Richard and I got into as children, but he was always there when I needed help in a fight. My siblings and I are close. We check up on each other and are always there when one of us needs a hug, or a bit of cash, someone to laugh with, or a shoulder to cry on.
There are thousnds upon thousands of people that a person could marry. But only a very few that can feel the role of a brother. I would never give up my brother.
sparklecat said:Would it be necessarily losing a sibling? Married people often say that their spouse is not only their love, but also their best friend. No reason one should automatically void the other... it may well simply be a deeper, more fulfilling relationship for the couple.

Well, usually when I drive through the country fields are planted with one kind of seed. I'm not a farmer, but I would imagine this has many advantages.
This one is a bit harder to understand, but I'm sure there is a good reason for it, or else it would not be a law.
Also, we have to take into account that Jesus cancelled out the law. Now, that doesn't mean that we discard the law, because the law is useful in telling us what is right and what things are wrong. Some specific laws were cancelled out, however, such as "an eye for an eye".
God Bless!
Stormy said:and if, and when, the marriage ends ... how many go back to being friends.
Sparklecat: Do you have a brother or sister? If you do, then you must understand that it is a precious relationship, that is far different from that of a spouse. If you choose one, you will loose the other.

ChristianCenturion said:Actually John812,
That is a common example that people whom aren't familiar with the OT use; whereas the sexual immorality laws (Leviticus 18) were shown to be a judgment of Gentiles and the law was given to both the Jew and apply to the non-Jew that dwelled among them, the other laws as the ones given there with breeding, planting, and clothing were only for the Jew. Apples and Oranges.
As far as the mixing of different materials, it was to be a constant reminder of the law that they were not to marry non-Jews, because just as the fabric when washed would tear apart due to different reactions in shrinking during wash, the mixing of religion would tear at their beliefs and their foundation in God would likewise fall apart. The Jewish law is for my learning, but I am not a Jew. Likewise, there were laws for the Levite Jew that did not apply to the non-Levite Jew. The sexual immorality law is not confined to only Jews.
thirstforknowledge said:Again, I must ask. According to the bible, didn't someone have to have sex with a relative at some point, in your belief? And if this is the case, doesn't that mean that we all commit incest when we have sex with anyone?
thirstforknowledge said:Umm, do you have any backing for anything that you have just said?
