What A Difference One Day MakesIn Memory of 9-11-01
On Monday we emailed jokes.On Tuesday we did not.
On Monday we thought that we were secure.On Tuesday we learned better.
On Monday we were talking about heroes as being athletes.On Tuesday we relearned who our heroes are.
On Monday we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived.On Tuesday we gave money away to people we had never met.
On Monday there were people fighting against praying in schools.On Tuesday you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying.
On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their room.On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids.
On Monday people were upset that they had to wait 6 minutes in a fast food drive through line.On Tuesday people didn't care about waiting up to 6 hours to give blood for the dying.
On Monday we waved our flags signifying our cultural diversity.On Tuesday we waved only the American flag.
On Monday there were people trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed.On Tuesday they were all holding hands.
On Monday we were men or women, black or white, old or young, rich or poor, gay or straight, Christian or non-Christian.On Tuesday we were Americans.
On Monday politicians argued about budget surpluses.On Tuesday grief stricken they sang 'God Bless America'.On Monday the President was going to Florida to read to children.
On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect our children.
On Monday we had families.On Tuesday we had orphans.
On Monday people went to work as usual.On Tuesday they died.
On Monday people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property.On Tuesday the same people all said 'God help us all' while thinking 'Thou shall not kill'.

It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into perspective, but it has. The lessons learned that week, the things we have taken for granted, the things that have been forgotten or overlooked, hopefully will never be forgotten again.~ author unknown ~

I was at work, several of us went to the parking lot, to sit on a picnic table and smoke for morning break, one of the company officers said we needed to come inside to the lunch room, that there had been a plane crash in NYC and one of the world trade center towers had been involved, it was just the beginning of what would be a somber work day for all of us, as the different events took place we was again called into the lunch room and showed a video of tower 2 collapsing and told the President was in a secure hiding place. I remember my youngest daughter coming home from school, the whole family gathering in the living room and her asking why people hate so much to do those things.

My youngest was only 3 years old when it happened. My husband had the television on, but the kids were playing downstairs. My daughter came upstairs just as the towers were falling... After that whenever we drove into Denver and she saw tall buildings she would get scared. This event impacted all of us in ways we will never be able to put words to... Even the littlest among us were affected that day.

yes it is Breezy,
I have games, Sim City, that the twin towers was part of the things that could be placed in the cities I created.
I have never been able to play them since that day

Now.... I don't know if this was doctored or not. I would prefer to think it wasn't, but you never know with people these days.

It really struck me when I saw this photo originally a few years ago... It's pretty amazing... the story is that it was just a tourist taking a picture.

I don't know if it was something like collective memory appearing on the film, or God's way of reminding us what happened there -- again, if this was not doctored... You will see this picture was apparently taken in 2005.

I remember that morning like yesterday...I called my mother to wish her Happy Birthday and she told me to turn on the TV.....first tower had been hit and she wanted to make sure she had heard right.....and while talking to her...we both saw the second plane hit....The Most Terrible Feeling Ever!....then the anguish to know that we had relatives in that area and not being able to communicate with them immediately....Sad, sad indeed....to this day my mother says her birthday was ruined for life

Same thing happened to my bil and my niece . . . I was at work and saw it on tv when th e first plane hit . . . at first I thought they were showing previews of a new movie or something . . . Bryan Gumbel was seeing it and said what I was thinking and everything was so surreal . . . he didn't know what was happening and America didn't know what was happening . . . a friend of mine lives in PA and she called me as the plane was going down close to where she lived . . . the was silence on the phone bc neither of knew what to say . . .
