I was sick, home from work when this happened. One of my best friends' daughter was attending NYU, my other best friends's daughter was attending GW, and my cousin was at work at the Pentagon. I felt like my heart was in my throat. It took hours to find out that everyone was okay.

Yesterday, the fire alarms went off at work near the end of the day. The guard wanted us to stay at our desks and await instructions, all I could remember was that that was what they told those people who lost their lives in the towers to do.

I was working for a Senate campaign and on my way to work when the first plane hit. I heard about it when I was on the expressway driving. When I got to work I rushed inside and everyone was in the office huddled around the TV. I got there just in time to see the 2nd plane hit, and we all knew that it was no accident... There were many tears and prayers said that day as we watched when the buildings came down. I remember the horrible feeling inside me as we watched it all unfold on TV.

I remember I got paid that day and I went downtown to cash my paycheck but couldn't because all the banks were closed in the city.

Besides watching the coverage on TV that day and following the attack I remember the strangest thing that kept reminding everyone that something had happened was that there were no planes in the air for 3 days afterward. It was eerily quiet instead...

Perhaps one of the hardest things I had to do that day was compose a press release from the campaign. Trying to come up with the words to express the sorrow we all felt was very hard. I was very pleased when after I had sent out my press release our current Senator chose to repeat some of what I had written when he addressed our state on the radio. I was proud that I had written something that he used and that it would bring comfort to people, but I wished I had never had to write it...

Hey LTR . . . great idea for a game . . . who remembers where they were and what they were doing when 9/11 first started . .

Hello, My friends.

I would like to have a fellowship thread to remember and honor 9/11/01.

Please fellowship with each other, share stories, prayers, poems, pictures, whatever you'd like.

Please do NOT rush the end of this thread, just to end it....thank you. It will end at the end of 9/11/01 Pacific time, even if it goes into more than one thread. The ending time is so the entire USA is covered.

No abc's, lalala, one word, smiley only posts. No more than 5 back to backs. Pics are o.k., but please only 2 in a row and then take some time to fellowship and please refrain if it's slowing things down for others.

I think no speed posting is obvious, but there it is, just in case.

Blessings....ah yes, the part about blessings.

I would like to do something a little different. I will give out blessings throughout, but I would also like to encourage you to bless each other and rep each other for posts you find especially touching.

But above all, please do fellowship too.

God bless.

The Day that will live in our Hearts FOREVER!

wwy3.gif

Where were you when the towers fell, and the
Pentagon was crushed, and so many perished.
I Was Everywhere

I am every man. I was everywhere when the Towers fell.
I was at work, in school, plowing the fields, changing a
diaper, typing a letter, driving a truck, making decisions
that affect our economy. I was doing whatever mundane,
every day task that runs my life. And now my life is
irreparably changed by the act of madmen who believe
that God will make a place for them in heaven because
of their hatred. I have lost my spouse, my parent, my friend,
my childhood. I have lost my faith in humanity. I have lost
my innocence and my ability to trust.
I may well have lost my future.
WMRRbtn2.gif

I have changed from a loving, forgiving person to
someone who knows full well that the days ahead
will be filled with war and I will have to, at the
very least, encourage and applaud the death of
someone else in order to survive.
I am standing on the very edge of Armageddon,
and I have lost myself and I have found fear.
WMRRbtn2.gif

But I have also found a unity in spirit in a nation that
has been too long divided. I have found heroes in
everyday people doing their everyday jobs. I have seen continuing acts of faith as people search for their loved
ones. I have seen a need to do something, anything,
from every corner of my country. I have seen an entire
world, far removed from my tragedy, embrace my sorrow
and stand for me. I have heard my country's anthem
ring from the very countries that we once
considered our enemies.
WMRRbtn2.gif

I am ashamed that I read of bombings in Israel and
thought, "how sad", and did nothing; read of
of car bombs in England and reflected only briefly
on man's inhumanity to man; I have watched brothers
fight brothers in Bosnia and did nothing to heal
their anger. I am brought to my knees with shame
that I saw the horrors inflicted on other countries on my
television set, and changed the channel. It is only now,
now that it is here, in my own backyard, that people have
died and lives have been changed, and only now do I
understand how horrible it is that people hate and destroy.

May God help us all.

I really miss the prayer services we used to have on Wednesday nights at church after the attacks..I also remember the attendance at those services going from hundreds..to dozens..to only a handful of people..how quickly everyone turned to God..and then away again.. :(

This was a day that the heart of America was broken. The devastation, the loss of lives and to be attacked by terrorists was beyond our wildest imaginations!!! This is a day that impacted us and still impacts us in HUGE ways! God bless America!!!

I remember that morning like yesterday...I called my mother to wish her Happy Birthday and she told me to turn on the TV.....first tower had been hit and she wanted to make sure she had heard right.....and while talking to her...we both saw the second plane hit....The Most Terrible Feeling Ever!....then the anguish to know that we had relatives in that area and not being able to communicate with them immediately....Sad, sad indeed....to this day my mother says her birthday was ruined for life :(
