I have had the most wonderful day of my life.

But it's taken a bad spin... my boyfriend (who as you may have read is fighting depression) went a bit overboard on his alcohol tonight.

He's trying to cut back, and I would like to ask for your prayers to help him to cut back!

Thank you so much for caring!

my step-grandfather was a functional alcohlic most of his 89 years. He never could totally quit he drank only beer in his later years-after he had 3/4 s of his stomach removed due to ulcers.
maybe your boyfriend should go to a detox clinic and try quitting cold turkey. i know what a struggle it can be .

Thank you for your prayers and your advice!

It's a difficult time for me because he realizes he has a problem, but thinks he's "quitting slowly" but he's not. It's killing me but he gets irritated anytime I or his psychologist brings it up.

The last 4 times he's drank he's ended up vomiting all night. (I know that's gross) And I told him that every time he drinks from now on I'm leaving for the night because I am NOT going to watch him do this to himself. But; that if he wants help I will be glad to help.

I don't want to lose him to this problem, I love him very much.

get thee to the aa group in your area asap. your boyfriend has taken the biggest step by saying he has a problem My step-grandfather s brother was also a heavy drinker. finally his wife got tired of cleaning up his puke and the next time he came home drunk she locked him out of the house and made him sleep in his truck. she said he could dirty that up and then clean it himself. he cut down some after that.

I do not mean to laugh at your situation with your grandparents, but that is what my grandmother did to her first husband (my moms biological father) and after that he was leaving the next time and she said "If you walk out that door, I'm taking the kids and leaving" and she did just that.

I don't want us to come to that! Last night (this is going to sound horrible!) I made him clean up his puke after he got it all over my bathroom!! This morning he woke up and was full of apologies!!

I've tried to make him go to AA but he says that would hurt his pride. I am worried about him, but getting to a point where I don't know if there is much more that I can do  and I am pushing myself to a nervous wreck.

YOU go to AA they have groups for the friends and family of drinkers.

I shall look for one of those groups :) i'm still new to this town so I don't know much of the goings on... how could I find out where one would be?

You meaning both of you.

I thank you so much for that!! He will to (someday) I am sure!

When he gets home from work tonight (in about 4 hours) I'm going to discuss with him my feelings (again) and tell him that I will support his quiting, but not his continueing. That I Love him and that I want him to get better and I'm sick of watching this.

I am also praying that the Lord will work these things out!

Matthew 18:19"I also tell you this: If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20For where two or three gather together because they are mine,£ I am there among them."

Now we apply this together and It will be done. Stand back and watch the hand of the Living God Move.

Nomad; that is a BEAUTIFUL verse :) I'd never heard it before, but I can promise you it's now highlighted in my bible and written in my "notes" page!

I thank you for your prayers and advice (though I've said that a billion times)

I found (in a package of stuff from his psych.) a note about AA meetings here in town at a church... and so I figure if I call his dr. he can tell me about one for friends/family.

You don't have to thank me. It blesses me to help you.

The Lord will begin sending people into your life that will help you, this forum included. He will begin to open your eyes to what is right and wrong for you. You is both of you. Follow your heart, there is where He is to guide you. You will see wonderful things ahead and it will bring you great joy.

I need to ask a favor of you, God has been revealing alot of things to me and I need to more fully understand what it is. If you would be so kind to ask Him to explain more fully what He's saying I would appreciate it very much.
