Imperfect But Enjoyable Bible Story Films.

What would be really cool is if they created a high production, well acted, beautifully scored synoptic gospel film that did not show the face of Jesus (with a portrayal of the gospel at the rolling of the credits, along with a suggestive prayer for a person to make to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior).

Finally got a copy of Risen. Not too bad of a movie fairly accurate enough to not be distracting and Fiennes is a pretty good actor but almost too thoughtful and quiet and it almost leaves you wanting a sequel at the end of the movie that isn't going to happen I figure.

I think the problem of making movies to promote the Gospel is that a message that works for some doesn't work for others to encourage them to take the leap of faith. Some need to see God coming as man to save us others need miracles and some need to see the suffering and victory of it all (the cross). The Passion was too much about suffering and the Cross to be a Gospel message to unbelievers while the Gospel of John and other Jesus movies probably end up more for believers. Risen was an interesting twist but it fell flat not showing what the Centurion did with what he believed only that it changed him.
