  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am so mixed on them. I think it is ridiculous to have cameras everywhere. It's like the book "1984" BIG BROTHER IS EVERYWHERE!!!! But then again, kids today are SO much worse behaved then they were 20 years ago. So really, they need them. And I have to say, high school and under, they are just kids, I don't think they need that kind of privacy at that age. Once you hit college, they need to be concerned about their privacy. And I am sorry, but I still maintain that if you are not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about, let the cameras be there, they are there for your protection, they might just be what keeps you alive.

Well, it is going to be brought up eventually...VA Tech?

Sad situation. Now that's it's over and done, everyone's a psychologist on the situation--with his lonerness, imaginary girlfriend, stalkerness, all brow-raising things, but, eh, if you don't know you just don't know. This is another reason of why you should be careful how you treat people. He was a sad/angry guy. He had no friends--from what I've heard, not one person came to his dorm (aside from his roomates) while he was rooming at college

Being shy: God saw fit (imo) to divide the human race into two personality types. Neither is better than the other (imo). They are merely an example of dimension and diversity.

There is nothing wrong with being shy or out-going (imo). There is however something (imo) wrong with the opinion/attitude that there is something wrong with anything that we can not relate to or identify with, on a personal level. Or that ones personality can or should, somehow be altered by an act of will or choice.

Our personality, our souls are who who we are, who God designed us to be. That in itself should undermine the self destructive and socially destructive things we say and do to tear ourselves down as a species. We long so much for sameness. But, if you think about it, how boring would that be? I couldn't personally stand it.

On this subject, I say, we are all marvelously and wondrously made in the image of God. The mere fact that the image of God is not flat and one dimensional should give each of us a better appreciation of God and humanity. It should inspire hope, and community, but it doesn't.

I hope that one day, we will have evolved enough as a species, to allow each of us to be who we are, without recrimination, criticism or disparaging comment. And realize that it's okay, to be who we are, whoever that is.

Gas prices?

They are brutal! It's bad enough we aren't getting 40 hrs at work, but now I have to pay MORE just to get there and back! AHHH!!!!

It is a real shame too, the gas stations that are cheapest are the ones that are supplied by Venezuela. And I don't dare support that man! I would rather walk to work than buy gas that pads the pocket of Chavez!

How about Television?

Television: I like television. But, I understand that it, like everything else that feels or tastes good and requires little to no personal effort, is not necessarily healthy... in excess.

And if I am an intelligent, discerning, fully functioning, thinking adult, then I am capable of making good choices about it. And I think I do.

So, I never understood why people get their panties in a bunch about it. They must be very simple minded and spoiled imo to think out of all the things in the world worth getting upset about, that television is worthy of thier impudent rage. So, I say... Turn it off if you don't like it. Don't waste my time complaining. It's not like it's mandatory! Hello?

Some aspects of space exploration show good benefits. But on the other hand, with space exploration, people also want to see if there's other forms of life in space--something I really don't care to discover, know, or otherwise deal with.

I appreciate the talent it takes to create annimation. Especially in the annimated feature since Little Murmaid. But, I think there are some cartoons on television, that have used this venue to circumvent the rating system, and their content is often inappropriate for children. It would be nice if cartoons were under the same sanctions as movies when it comes to ratings. But, currently many are not rated.

Oh, America...What a big topic. First of all, we were founded on Christian fundamentals, and the farther we get away from those fundamentals, the worse this country becomes, and it all starts in how we raise our children. We have completely given children more control than they have any business having. We aren't aloud to spank, we do time-outs, we teach evolution, abortion, gay pride, we took God out of school, you have to be REALLY careful about praying in school with your team or class or whoever. The curriculum has gone down, every time a child can't pass a test, it must be because the test is too hard, so let's dumb it down.

The main thing is that children are not aloud to be disciplined anymore, which leads to the rudeness, and the promiscuity, and the criminals, the killers. And with every generation, it gets worse.

As for a political standpoint, it absolutely disgusts me that this country wants to tear itself apart! Instead of rallying behind the president, whether you agree with him or not, most of the country shoots him down and expresses their hatred for him. Once you have a president in power, I think EVERYBODY should get behind him, and do what they can to keep the country strong. "UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL" It is so true, and nobody sees it.

Really, this country is exactly where it is meant to be on God's timeline, we are destroying ourselves, we are turning our back on God, we are the next Babylon, and we aren't going to survive much longer like this, however, it is too late to turn around. This is where we were meant to be in the end times, and Jesus is coming soon!
