My point was to present the Catholic point of view accurately. Many of us will never see eye-to-eye on this, but let's at least present each side as each side believes it.

That's why I quoted from the Catechism... just to be sure the Baptists here know what the CC teaches...

You can thank me later. ;)

... just a side note ... please no teasing about sleeping with my daughters bunny ;)
I sleep with my daughters bear every single night. When we go on vacation.......I sleep with her bear.
Since she left the earth, I wanted to hold that last thing she was holding when she died.

I am holding it in my hand in this family picture.
It is good to know, that I am not crazy. I don't worship this bear. It used to smell like her, but not anymore. I am attached to it because it comforts me and reminds me of her.
Don't feel bad about sleeping with the bear!

OK lets stop digging up things about other denominations when they can not rightful speak for themselves because of forum rules.

There are things that we will never agree with and posting like this will not help that. This will not be a thread or forum where other denominations are put down or even attack. It is not fair to attack another denomination when they can not defend thier beliefs because of forum rules.

Keep this in mind and things will only get better.

How can we honestly discuss a topic (a topic started here by an outsider) if we cannot refer to the official doctrines that address points made? I again say, the issue was brought to us, we didn't start the thread.

Someone from another forum came in here and made certain statements... all I did was quote from his church's official catechism. I should be thanked for referring to accurate statements of doctrine rather than to inuendo. I would think that they prefer that I do it that way.

Let me quote from the original poster: "Yes, the Catechism is what the Church teaches." All I did was to quote it.

We can discuss and quote other denominations beliefs here. But what we need to be very careful in is that we do not make accusations that thier beliefs are not of God or make them not Christians or anything of the sort. It really can be a fine line at times, a very fine line. If we are going to error here, I would rather error on the side of caution then offend others from another denomination.

We need to be very careful when discussing other denominations beliefs. We have our opinions and they have thiers, but they are not able to debate thiers. Please keep this in mind. We want to be able to discuss what we believe without interferance from other denominations and that is partly why we have these rules. But lets be very careful to not use these rules to offend others without them being able to stand up for what they believe.

I am posting this as member of this forum not a moderator. I truly want to see peace between us and others and it does break my heart to see when this is not the case. Please please ... post in peace.

"Opinion" is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I should be commended for not using "opinion". And remember, the topic was not raised by us, it was presented to us.

I post from their catechism or from their councils... if people want to conclude that the doctrines they espouse are not from God, that is not my problem. If they want to raise a topic in here, knowing the rules concerning debate, then they should be prepared to have their "sacred tradition" quoted.

Ignoring official doctrines is living in a fantasyland.

Are we all free to espouse whatever doctrines we want without being questioned?

God bless you, brother. :)

I agree with you. I was thinking about this point this morning. I was looking around my room at all of the stuffed animals that a friend of mine, who has now moved away, gave me. The stuffed animals remind me of my friend's goodness and love even when he can't physically be here. I don't worship the things, nor do I think they are my friend, but they are comforting reminders and they make him feel closer.
Ooooh, I have lots of stuffed animals. Hugging them helps me show affection for my guardian angels. :)

I don't think so, I think if we are going to have an opinion we should back it up, and be able to withstand questioning about it. Otherwise there would be chaos in any of the forums.

Just an observation that can apply to any situation: quotes and passages taken out of context can really seem to mean something different than what they really mean. The Bible is a great example. But we must always remember context, if we are to have a fruitful discussion.
