• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm jumping ship

Liberal Christianity at it's best tries to act like Christ apart from acknowledging the need for the new birth and indwelling Holy Spirit.

That was clear back in 1923.. "the MODERN liberal"....

They might have a heart attack seeing today's modern liberal teachings

This is True. I read "The Celestine Prophecy" and this was the watershed moment in my life when I abandoned the dabbling in moral relativism and recognized Jesus as Absolute Truth.

Liberalism dropped the ball when they decided to spit on Troops coming home from Vietnam and calling them all babykillers.
Wholeheartedly agree with both statements.

I couldn't even *understand* "The Celestine Prophecy." Bunch of gibberish, much like the works of one L. Ron Hubbard.....

ROFL ^_^

It was at that point where I knew, everything that moral relativism and sad to say liberalism stands for, is rooted in M.R.(moral relativism) talk to pretty much almost any liberal and you will see this.. there isn't Absolute Truth to them, and in fact they hate it, because it is so "closed minded".

To Lovebirds,

I don't want to make this into an anti liberal thread.... it's easy for me to do with my strong feelings against liberalism.

Just hope you feel welcome here and enjoy chatting w/ you in future threads

Rep Daddy really wants them to make a CF Pet Peeve for us here. "Outside the Box" would make a great name for one.

"There are no absolutes," is an absolute.
"We choose not to make a statement," is a statement.
"No comment," is a comment.

In the past I have not felt welcome to post in Conservative or Fundamentalist areas. This is no longer the case.

I am a religious fundamentalist, a social liberal, but firm in my beliefs for Christ. I am now getting to where I relate more to the conservatives. I have so many liberal Christian friends. They are good-hearted. I respect liberal Christianity for what it is supposed to be: a reflection of Christ welcoming the lost with open arms, saving their souls and embracing them into fellowship with Him. But this isn't what I'm seeing happen lately. In very short leaps, "liberal Christian" can become "borderline Christian, but also affirming non-Christian beliefs." Then "borderline Christian" leads to "non-Christian," which quickly becomes "anti-Christian." And if I have to choose between pleasing people, and pleasing God, which will I choose?

If you will, despite the fact that I still believe government has no business regulating who can marry whom (church has every right, but government should not), please count me among the conservatives.

I feel like I've just cut off a limb...

I've so missed you since you started posting mainly in WWMC. I've always enjoyed our conversations. I've thought of you often and have been praying for you, and hoping you would come back to chat with us. So I just cannot tell you how happy I am to see you posting here! You made my day, sweetie.

Welcome, I've recently jumped shipped as well... Like you I was socially liberal and very conservative in my own personal life. I'm noticing though that as I grow deeper in my faith that I'm becoming more socially conservative as well... to the point where I was no longer feeling welcome at a message board I posted at formerly. (a non-Christian board where I was accepted probably because I was SO socially liberal)

Another wonderful testimony!!
It's great to have you here too, Dani.

For the record, I'm beginning to feel less like I've cut off a limb, and more like I've thrown off a weight.
