I think to be holy you must live in the light. Follow all the ten commandments. Establish a true relationship with Jesus Christ and really have Him guide your life. They must have Jesus say they know them on the Day of Judgement. They can't be lukewarm and they can't shrink back. They must do everything Jesus commands them to. They must hear from God. And they must be certain about their salvation and God has to make the future known to them or the things to come. These things are all scriptural and these are the things I think make a person holy.
Consider this: A person just gets saved and yet has had no opportunity to do any righteous works including some of the Decalogue. Their sins are completely forgiven. In that instance, is that person Holy? I like to remind certain Christians of this who claim that holiness is a conferred status rather than intrinsic to the new, created creature in Christ.

You mean preaching to those you consider less knowledgeable than you.
Some dont want to be preached at.
In fact, in my immense time I have spent on these websites, I have come to believe those doing the preaching get gratified, but seldom do their listeners

This is a "testimony" thread. Speaking of the living God may just occur on such a thread, amen?

And when someone starts a debate about boredom, they might just want a sympathetic ear, and affinity with others who have experienced what they are going through. Amen?

They might not have started the thread so people can start preaching at them, Amen?

I literally do not experience boredom. There are too many things to be mentally/spiritually worked through and prayed for. Too much insight yet to be gained from the Holy Spirit. How can I be bored in the midst of a raging war? How can I be bored when there are so many desperate souls out there? How can I be bored with so much yet to be learned from God's Word?

I suspect that you studying the doctrine and practice of prayer--its history and application--will reveal how necessary your ministry of prayer is. Your participation as a prayer warrior is vital in God's plan for the US. Consequently, you will probably began to experience the urgency in every hour with less boredom.

Study the Bible topically as much as possible. Create topical folders on your Computer and believe for the Lord to fill your mind with His knowledge. Record your new insights and be ready to share them. I can think of few things more exiting in this life.

I find that as I minister more to both the ungodly and godly spiritual things, I have less desire for entertainment in the usual sense. Simply spending time with someone else while being mutually edified in the Lord is also great refreshment.

God bless!

Wow, what a nicely worded response! I enjoyed reading that. Well, personally for me I am bored because I don't know what to do. I don't like to pray for things that I don't have absolute certainty will come true. So that stops many prayers from coming out of me. Too many times have a prayed for something that didn't happen and my confidence level for certain prayers dropped so much. And also, I've tried evangelizing in my daily life and let me just say I feel as though I am barred from everybody. Let me say my mind is like, I could evangelize to everyone but how would everything turn out. Even in daily interactions I often think of evangelism with no result, often because it is me trying to evangelize in my own power. And finally I have read the bible so much I feel as though I am sometimes pushed away from the bible because of the large amount of time I have studied it.

Anyway, thanks for all the recommendations. I don't want to sound as though I am full of excuses but these are all genuine answers. I am glad you are finding purpose in God though. May it continue for you!

Again, this is a "testimony" thread.

A "testimony" is giving one's "testimony" of how GOOD God is and to praise and thank Him for ALL HE has done in a situation and/or in their life.

Have you read the free ebook, Knowledge Of The Holy by A.W. Tozer? Recommended reading even though I don't agree with all of his statements and conclusions.

No, I have never read that book. I tend to stay away from Christian authors.

And once again, the thread was started concerning boredom, and the negative effect it can have.
Why not ask the op if he wants, in this thread to move on and have you teach him about holiness. Hopefully he will answer honestly.
Wouldn't that be better? You wouldn't want to start preaching if he didn't want to be preached at would you?

I read very few books by Christian authors. A couple helped many years ago, but I just tend to stick with the Bible.
In saying that, I know many get much help from reading Christian books. That's great for them

I agree with stuart on this thread I think that we shouldn't venture too far off of the main topic of boredom. On a different forum I would certainly be willing to answer your question!

I do think that this thread should be kept closely around the topic of boredom. I was having trouble navigating all the responses in all honesty.

And you are entitled to that view. It is your thread, you started it, and you started it concerning a particular subject

MMMmmmmm, I must say that you are probably missing out by not reading extra biblical commentary and instruction. No reason to 'reinvent the wheel' so to speak.

Here is something concerning prayer. It is a ministry and foundational to all other successful ministry. It is also a critical part of fulfilling Paul's admonishin of keeping good things in our head.

Praying Scripture is also important for an energized prayer and bible study. That is, praying through Scripture. Remember, Scripture is no less alive, spiritual and powerful passing though your lips than it is in written form. That power resides in you. This cannot be over emphasized. Imagine the Very Word of God working in and through you. You can direct it as needed or intended.

That very Word of God that brought man and the universe into being resides in you and will work effectually for you and others. You are an agent of powerful change--in Christ. You are needed by God. Let know one tell you otherwise.

Joshua commanded the sun to be still. It had no choice but to obey. How did he know that was God's will?

Of course, do not forget to ask the Lord to show you how to overcome all things that can diminish or destroy your faith.

Your words are very encouraging to me. Thanks! About the Christian authors, I tend to be skeptical of people and their walk with Christ. Perhaps this reflects heavily back on me. Nice use of the miracle by the way! Also, thanks for the tips!

Hey, I've been awake since like 5 pm and I'm awake at 5 am. My sleep schedule is crazy. Normally I'll watch and listen to worldly things because I'm soooo bored and I need something to do. But I'm trying to rid my life of worldly things and become Holy. So I can't be looking towards the world's entertainment to fill my boredom. What can I do when I'm bored? The temptations come heavy when I have nothing to do. What wholesome things can I do to fill my life with positivity and not destruction? My life would be sooooooooo much better if I knew what to do with it besides fill it with empty entertainment.
In the chatbox you might find people in different time zones to talk to. Or start a thread somewhere on CF (deeper fellowship?) "bored at 5AM crowd". :)

Edit: Parenthesis wrong way around.
